Terrorizing Dissent: RNC 2008 |
|
by Anonymous, |
Glass Bead Collective, Twin Cities Indymedia, and other independent media activists have released a new film, 'Terrorizing Dissent', an exposé of events at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Featuring first-person accounts and footage from more than forty cameras on the streets, 'Terrorizing Dissent' focuses on the story of dissent suppressed. People charged with "conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism" speak out against the government's campaign to manipulate media coverage and label civil disobedience and community organizing as terrorism.
There will be a screening of Terrorizing Dissent at the Lucy Parsons Center on December 5th at 7 PM. The LPC is located at 549 Columbus Ave. Boston, MA |

Ground Noise and Static: Video Report on the DNC and RNC Protests of 2008 |
|
by Submedia and PepperSpray Productions, |
In November, one or the other of the corporate candidates will win, and then, as always, it will be what the people do, not the politicians, that counts. This video report on the protests that occurred in connection with the Democrat and Republican National Conventions, Ground Noise & Static is a manifesto.
"We went to Denver and St. Paul to take the pulse of the movement. Corporate media would cover the platitudes and posturing of the politicians, we were interested in something else, a story hidden in plain sight, captured in the now-classic street chant, 'This is what democracy looks like.'"

A Preview of the DNC |
|
by Cady, |
Much has been made by many a liberal Democrat about the supposed "different-ness" of their political party, one that they claim has miraculously found a way to take billions of dollars of money every year from racist, sexist, land-raping capitalists and simultaneously support the liberation of women from patriarchy, people of color from white supremacy, workers from bosses, and the earth from destructive abuse. Anarchists reject these easily apparent lies every day, and they plan to do so again at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver Colorado. |

DNC Protest, Split, and the Principled Stand of Cynthia McKinney |
|
by Steven Argue and Cynthia McKinney, steveargue2 (nospam) yahoo.com |
"As the United States activated Navy ships and the Air Force to begin an airlift of non-specified goods into the former Soviet state of Georgia, and military exercises began in the Persian Gulf near Iran, I received communications from certain individuals among the Colorado Greens who were organizing campaign support events there, suggesting that I not participate in an anti-war program being organized by other individuals in Colorado." -Cynthia McKinney
In addition, the Green Party of Colorado has issued false statements to the press and all over the internet claiming that Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney will not be participating in the Recreate ’68 events. Here is one such statement from Dave Chandler, co-chair of the Colorado Green Party, Green Party candidate for U.S. Congress in the Seventh Congressional District, and supporter of a Denver ballot measure that would seize the vehicles of illegal immigrants:
“Cynthia McKinney, Green Party candidate for President, and Rosa Clemente, Green Party candidate for Vice President are NOT participating in any Recreate ‘68 activities. Both candidates, and the Green Party of Colorado, are refuting this announcement and are stating that neither candidate, nor the Green Party of Colorado, are in any way associated with Recreate ’68, nor will any of their candidates be speaking at or attending any event, nor are they in any way associated with the group Recreate ’68.”
This is a blatant lie. Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente will be speaking at the Recreate ’68 events. |

Obama Lays Out Plans for Continued War |
|
by Steven Argue, steveargue2 (nospam) yahoo.com |
In a July 14, 2008 New York Times Op Ed, Barack Obama says:
"As I’ve said many times, we must be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in. We can safely redeploy our combat brigades at a pace that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 — two years from now, and more than seven years after the war began. After this redeployment, a residual force in Iraq would perform limited missions: going after any remnants of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, protecting American service members and, so long as the Iraqis make political progress, training Iraqi security forces."
In other words, he does not plan to get all of the troops out of Iraq and he will only get most of the troops out in two years. And what does he explain he will do with these troops? Redeploy them. Redeployed where? His rhetoric has been clear: Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. |

Queer Liberation and Anarchist Communism |
|
by Thomas Giovanni- NEFAC Boston Local Union, |
As anarchist communists, it is only logical and consistent with our principles in the struggle for a free humanity that we support the personal, cultural, and institutional fight against patriarchy, hetero-sexism, the gender bi-nary system and all other struggles for queer liberation both in themselves and in their intersectionalities with capitalism, the state, white supremacy, and all other forms of human oppression. |

The Mortgage Crisis in the USA |
|
by Randy - Capital Terminus Collective- Atlanta (NEFAC Supporter Collective), capitalterminus (nospam) gmail.com |
Commentators complain of "partisanship" in Washington. Society's problems are said to result from infighting between parties. We should celebrate, then, because Democrats and Republicans have agreed on a plan to end the mortgage crisis. What solution do they offer? Handouts to Big Business, and "fiscal discipline" for the rest. |

The Degeneration of the Russian Revolution |
|
by Wayne Price - (NEFAC) personal opinion, drwdprice (nospam) aol.com |
The Russian revolution go from an extreme popular democracy to the horrors of Stalin’s totalitarian state capitalism. How did this happen and when did this happen? What does this tell us about the nature of socialism?
How did the Russian revolution go from an extreme popular democracy to the horrors of Stalin’s totalitarian state capitalism? The Russian revolution of 1917 involved vast numbers of people. It included almost all the working class of the cities, most of the peasants, and the mostly-peasant ranks of the military (swollen by the needs of World War I). The working people created delegated representational councils (soviets), along with factory committees, unions, regimental councils, peasant village councils, and cooperatives. |
