Waltham based Lionbridge Technologies is target of international protest. Labor activists in Poland have made the call for solidarity actions and protest letters to a MA based multinational, Lionbridge Technologies. The globalization giant, which provides services for Microsoft, Google and other corporations, apparently did a little union busting in the birthplace of Solidarity. |
|
Management fired a union rep just after the union was founded. The Union of Syndicalists, which started the solidarity campaign claim that the grounds for dismissal are absurd and will not hold up in court.
According to a representative of one of Poland's largest union federations, OPZZ, union busting is now common in Poland. They have been monitoring the case and are optimistic about the outcome for the unionists. The case will be heard by a labor court next week.
Jakub G. was accused of leaking confidential information which appeared in an article written by Laure Akai on the firm. Ms. Akai maintains that everything in the article was found through internet search. An independent search confirmed her version of events.
The Union of Syndicalists hope that Boston-based activists will pay a visit to the company's corporate headquarters in Waltham. They have also asked for protest letters to be sent to the CEO.
