The National AFL-CIO, Several International Unions and others have called for actions around the country. April 4, 1968 was the day in 1968 when Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated by US government agents in Memphis where he had gone to support sanitation workers fighting for a voice at work.
Please join the Greater Boston Labor Council, Boston Teachers Union, Jobs With Justice, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, MTA, 1199SEIU, and SEIU State Council to stand in solidarity with workers in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, New Hampshire and other states fighting corporate politicians seeking to destroy collective bargaining.

The organizers did a good job bringing together Mass. Labor unions for this rally--the only shortcomings were not directing the protest at the Democratic Party as well-the Democrats voted for the Wall Street bailout , too; also, at the rally there was little mention of the US wars on Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Libya--there wasn't a connection made that the war budget is the main factor stealing funds from labor and other human needs in the US, and that Martin Luther King's anti-war stand was the main factor that caused the US government to assassinate him.
