Momentum Builds on Second Day of Occupation
02 Oct 2011
Occupy Boston's occupation of Dewey Square continued into a second day, with about twice as many protesters staying overnight as on Friday.

Bostonians continued to show solidarity with the occupation, with donations of food and equipment trickling throughout the day. Progress was made on the logistical front with a rearrangement of tents creating a more convenient layout. The owners of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, of which Dewey Square is a part, also turned on an electric outlet on the side of a building for use by occupiers.

The legal team continued to build capacity, with a legal observer training being scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 PM. All participants in the occupation are urged to write the National Lawyers Guild hotline number on their arms in case of arrest. That number is 617-227-7335.

The day's general assembly concentrated on formulating demands.

Another unpermitted march was conducted at four in the afternoon. Unlike the previous night's protest marchers mostly confined themselves to the sidewalk. A reported 200 people took part. Custodians at the Hynes Convention Center, among others, expressed their appreciation and solidarity as the march passed.
