Nearly 1,000 people took part, clogging the streets in an unpermitted excursion through downtown and Back Bay. The route was obviously designed to avoid police harassment, frequently going the wrong way up one-way streets.
On returning to Dewey Square, the site of the occupation, marchers were directed across the street to the Federal Reserve Building, where about 20 protesters had linked arms in front of the door. Police lined up in front of the building, and a brief but noisy confrontation ensued. After an appeal by one of the blockaders however, protesters sat down and began a moderated discussion using the people's mic. (http://www.thenation.com/blog/163767/we-are-all-human-microphones-now)
The blockaders eventually decided to leave, and a second march departed for Quincy Market. No one was arrested. |
