Local advocates launch State House lobby day to fight proposed elimination of 240,000 meals for low-income and homebound seniors |
|
BEACON HILL – Seniors from across Massachusetts gathered at the State House Thursday to speak out against proposed cuts to senior meal programs. Organized by the Massachusetts Senior Action Council (MSAC), the protest and lobbying drive came in response to a new Beacon Hill budget proposal that would eliminate more than 240,000 meals for low-income and homebound seniors throughout the commonwealth.
Donning sandwich boards and waving signs reading “Don’t leave our plates empty!,” MSAC members delivered thousands of empty paper plates to Speaker Robert DeLeo and members of the legislature – each signed by a low-income or homebound senior who depends on the Elder Nutrition Program (ENP) for regular meals. Following the plate presentation, advocates visited dozens of legislative offices to educate members and ask that each commit to fully funding the Elder Nutrition Program and other senior meal initiatives.
“The nutrition component couldn’t be more important – this is the only hot meal many seniors will receive each day,” said MSAC President Ann Stewart. “Balancing the budget by taking hot meals away from low-income and homebound seniors is absolutely unconscionable.”
Members of the Massachusetts Senior Action Council hope the lobbying effort will stave off cuts in the House version of the budget, set to be released April 11th.
“We sincerely hope our legislative leaders understand how vital these programs are to seniors across Massachusetts,” Stewart said. “We won’t rest until their budget priorities reflect that understanding.” |

Let us all begin with thé year of 1819 and Supreme Court Justice John Marshal in an opinion of thé court case of Woodward vs Dartmouth. This opinion is ignore today that thé présent day Justices that are very aware of my Qui Tam that is also thanks to thé team whom works with Ezra Folson of Interpol from Lyon France was filed quietly in December in thé Netherlands in thé Hague (world court,2006).
Now for thé remainder of thé message that will open so much more information regarding thé true law of our Constitution that was violated by thé illégal U.S.A. Patriot Act in 2001.
I would like to let you all know that like Occupy Wall Street that so much more can be done to create true justice and democracy for We the People World-wide!!!!
Just make signs and have them everywhere to be read that will produce Civil Rights in America to again come alive like it was in the 1960's.
The sign should say Google:Civil Rights for We the People supported by Dennis Kucinich,Ron Paul,Al Gore,Cynthia Ann McKinney,Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Bootstraps Fisher!!!!!!
Remember that those in power who want to cover-up the truth will try to stop the spreading of the absolute truth yet they will fail, look at the success of the Arab Spring to begin with.
Make this message viral please world-wide!!!!!!!! |
