On April 16th and 17th, people from all walks of life will gather in Washington, D.C. to resist the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Why have people actively resisted these meetings every year for over a decade?
- Because we are opposed to the promotion of Western economic interests though the distribution and withholding of global capital.
- Because we oppose IMF-imposed austerity measures that force the poor and middle class to pay and suffer for the excesses of the rich, most recently in Greece.
- Because we oppose the actions of the World Bank that have destroyed livelihoods and ecosystems across the globe to promote "development" that benefits only elites and foreign corporations. |
