Sexual Prey in the Saudi Jungle |

He was an officer in the Saudi Royal Navy assigned to the strategic Saudi base of Jubail in the Persian Gulf. She was a single mom from Mindanao, in the Philippines, who saw, like so many others, employment in Saudi Arabia as a route out of poverty. When he picked her up at the Dammam International Airport in June, little did she know she was entering, not a brighter chapter of her life but a chamber of horrors from which she would be liberated only after six long months. |

Natural gas is one of the main sources of fuel for heating and even industrial energy. In this context the government of the right-wing president Piñera announced that it would increase the price of gas by about 17%. This announcement was not well received by the population in Magallanes for obvious reasons. However, it is important to point that in the midst of this proposed increase in prices, the government is also firing personnel in the region and the country. |

Nearly 50 protesters gathered at 20 Park Plaza, home of the Israeli consulate, to protest the recent murder of a Palestinian woman by Israeli police, and Israel's genocidal occupation of Palestine. The protest was organized by members of Boston Food Not Bombs and Israel's Anarchists Against the Wall. |

Black is Back Response to the Drawing Down of US Troops in Iraq |

President Obama has recently pulled approximately 90,000 US troops out of the Republic of Iraq, leaving about 50,000 there. The Obama administration has referred to this move as an end to the “combat mission” there and is hailing this drawdown as an achievement. The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations calls for the complete withdrawal of all US and foreign troops and security forces out of Iraq. |
