Memorial Planned for Local Activist Eric Weinberger
winkeric.JPGBoston, Mass--Eric Weinberger, a lifelong activist and organizer in the civil rights, anti–nuclear, and anti–war movements, died on December 15, 2006. Eric was best known in Boston for his work with Food Not Bombs, an organization which provides free food to the hungry year–round in public parks.

Eric will be remembered by many people for many things, but throughout it all he carried himself with dignity and an extreme humbleness. He devoted his entire life to working for justice, easing the hardships of others, and serving as a mentor and inspiration to many younger activists.

Congress Votes 368-31 to Back Mumia’s Racist Frame-up
Mumia.gifAll of the Massachusetts Democrats in Congress joined in the racist lynch mob voting for the blood of an innocent black man. They were John Olver, Richard Neal, James McGovern, Barney Frank, Martin Meehan, John Tierney, Edward Markey, Michael Capuano, Stephen Lynch, and William Delahunt.

Boston Area Communities Protest Deadly Israeli Assault on Gaza
DSC00821.jpgAt lunchtime on Thursday, November 16th, around 50 citizens from the Boston area gathered in front of the Israeli consulate at 20 Park Plaza. The community member were assembled to demand that the Israeli government immediately stop the killing of Palestinian civilians in the West bank and Gaza Strip.

At the rally demonstrators took turns reading aloud the names of 85 Palestinians killed in Gaza by Israel military strikes in the past two weeks alone. The list was fallowed by a moment of somber silence in honor of the fallen.

Giant Images Targeting BioTerror Lab Projected on Buildings in Downtown Boston
DSC00209.jpgOn Monday night, October 30th, members of The Stop the Biolab Coalition used "Light Cannons" to project giant images onto buildings in the downtown Boston area. They utilized this creative technology to expose the true costs of Boston University’s proposed BioSafety Lab Level 4 (BSL4).

The 50 plus foot high photos and messages expressed concerns about the deadly germs, such as Ebola and Anthrax, that will be brought into Boston’s communities for use at the BSL4 in the Roxbury/South End area.

Textron Cluster Bombs Focus of Vigil in Wilmington MA
DSC00016.jpgNorthampton, Mass -- About 80 people joined the Northampton (MA) Committee to Stop the War in Iraq yesterday to protest Textron Systems based in in Wilmington, Mass., for its manufacture of cluster bombs. The vigil took place outside the plant to call on all people of conscience to oppose the use of cluster munitions and to actively work to end the manufacture and sale of cluster bombs. The Northampton Committee initiated this protest after one of its founding members, Frances Crowe, 87 of Northampton, learned of Textron's role in the production and sale of cluster munitions. Since then Merrimack Valley People for Peace, Traprock Peace Center, Code Pink of western Massachusetts as well as Progressive Democrats of America/Massachusetts, Northampton Chapter have endorsed the protest in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
