Terrorizing Dissent: RNC 2008 |
|
by Anonymous, |
Glass Bead Collective, Twin Cities Indymedia, and other independent media activists have released a new film, 'Terrorizing Dissent', an exposé of events at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Featuring first-person accounts and footage from more than forty cameras on the streets, 'Terrorizing Dissent' focuses on the story of dissent suppressed. People charged with "conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism" speak out against the government's campaign to manipulate media coverage and label civil disobedience and community organizing as terrorism.
There will be a screening of Terrorizing Dissent at the Lucy Parsons Center on December 5th at 7 PM. The LPC is located at 549 Columbus Ave. Boston, MA |

The Anarchist’s Guide to Mass. ’08 Ballot Questions |
|
by Adrienne, Jack, and Cady, |
QUESTION 1 (by Adrienne)
Ballot question 1 is the Small Government Act to End the Income Tax, which would cut income taxes in half for the tax year beginning 1 January 2009 and eliminate income taxes the following year. This ballot measure was made possible by a handful of libertarians calling themselves the Committee for Small Government [whose website is yellow, of all tasteless color schemes. You’ve been warned]. They are convinced that, following the passage of this act, every citizen in Massachusetts will pocket an additional $3,600 every year. They squawk that 41% of Massachusetts’ budget is ‘wasted,’ which number they derive from asking people how much of Mass’ budget they feel is ‘wasted.’ |

Proposition 2 – Great Concept, Horrible Implementation |
|
by 365Degrees, |
As a fervent supporter of marijuana decriminalization, I looked at the actual text of the proposed legislature recently and was horrified by what I saw. Although the proposition delivers on decriminalization, as promised, it appears to open up a new way in which people can be charged and fined with possession of marijuana.
With support for marijuana decriminalization gaining in momentum, and the national election less than a week a way, I had relatively high expectations that Massachusetts voters would be able to create some positive change in the state on Tuesday. However, this all changed recently when I read the actual text being introduced. |

Spread the Wealth of Wall Street, Big Oil, Tax-Evader Fox! |
|
by Doug Cupertino, |
The fascist Fox News of Rupert Murdoch has been whipping up a mania and false fear against socialism, Marxism and “spreading the wealth” But it is protecting only its own tax evasion and the speculative profit, predatory lending and price-gouging of Wall Street and Big Oil.
Led by rabid fascists Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, Fox News is conjuring up a false phobia and paranoia against socialism and Marxism. Frothing in the mouth, Fox right-wing commentators are spreading the false fear that socialism and Marxism will grab income from the working-class and middle-class. |

Bailout Bush (video) |
|
by Michael Borkson, nosanctions (nospam) yahoo.com |
About 25 protesters gathered at Park Street in Boston Thursday, Sept. 25 to protest Bush's bailout of Wall Street. As we look upon the demise of capitalism and its inherant greed, people all over the US Thursday held protests to say "Foreclose the CEOs-not our homes."
A lame (very lame) duck president "Bailout" Bush(aka Markus) showed up at the Boston rally to panhandle passersby for a few spare billions to rescue Wall Street(or "War" Street--they finance and profit from US wars). |
