BU Attempting to Bypass Biolab Safety Review
At BU’s invitation, plaintiffs in the lawsuits against the BU Bio-Terror
Lab and their counsel met yesterday with representatives of BU and their
attorneys to hear details of BU's proposed waiver request. In their Aug.
12 press release, BU stated that, if granted, the waiver would enable them
to operate the level 1 and 2 labs and to begin the permitting process for
the Level 3 lab. Though BU claims the Risk Assessment will be “reviewed
and considered” for the level 3 labs, what we learned yesterday is that BU
intends to circumvent the requirement that the state review the Risk
Assessment of the level 3 labs.

``NO WHOLE FOODS`` Banner Drops on Centre Street, Jamaica Plain
mainpicture.JPGTuesday March 29, 2011 - In the moments before rush hour this morning, Tuesday March 29, 2011, several concerned residents of Jamaica Plain hung banners from a billboard on the roof 467 Centre Street, to say "NO" to Whole Foods's plans to open a store in Jamaica Plain's Hyde Square. The banners read, "An Affordable JP is Truly a 'JP For All' - NO WHOLE FOODS" in both English and Spanish.

Statement in Support of Chuck Turner
Yesterday, Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner was sentenced to three years in federal prison for accepting a bribe. Turner has long been known for supporting radical causes and standing by his constituents, and the circumstances of his trial point to a concerted effort on the part of the Justice Department to silence his voice. Community Church of Boston's Jason Lydon has released the following statement.

Filipino teachers in US file class suit vs oppressive recruiters

COINTELPRO and the Omaha Two --An interview with Michael Richardson
Since 2007, local Boston journalist Michael Richardson has been writing a series of articles about Ed Poindexter and Mondo we Langa, who are two Black Panther political prisoners known as the Omaha Two. Richardson argues that they were framed for the 1970 murder of a policeman as part of the FBI’s notorious counterintelligence program, dubbed “COINTELPRO.”

Worker Solidarity Protest at Harvard
On Thursday, March 25th at 5 PM, nearly 70 protesters converged at 1350 Massachusetts Ave. in front of Harvard's Holyoke Center administration building to protest Harvard's policies toward its employees.
