Anarchist Ideals in an Ideal Community: Boston Anarchists Talk on Strategic Resistance
a_in_a180.jpgAnna Marie’s father was an Italian immigrant with anarchistic ideas but who in the 1920s didn’t identify himself openly as an anarchist. He raised his daughter in the rough and demanding environment of a working class family where hierarchical powers were not to be trusted and human relationships were critical for the survival of shrinking societies. Later in the 1940s and 50s, Anna Marie felt naturally attracted to the beat poets and dharma bums, but it was only when she read Emma Goldman that she connected with the “deep desires of anarchist ideals.”

Memorial Planned for Local Activist Eric Weinberger
winkeric.JPGBoston, Mass--Eric Weinberger, a lifelong activist and organizer in the civil rights, anti–nuclear, and anti–war movements, died on December 15, 2006. Eric was best known in Boston for his work with Food Not Bombs, an organization which provides free food to the hungry year–round in public parks.

Eric will be remembered by many people for many things, but throughout it all he carried himself with dignity and an extreme humbleness. He devoted his entire life to working for justice, easing the hardships of others, and serving as a mentor and inspiration to many younger activists.

DSC00179.jpgBoston, Mass. – Four weeks after their first demonstration against The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) who claim that the Jews of Boston are united in their support of Israel, 30 people gathered once again in front of 126 High Street to speak out: “Not in our name”, or as some Israeli Refusers have been known to chant: “Not with our bodies”.
