Mutual Aid Disaster Relief in Haiti Team One on the Ground in Haiti
Mutual Aid Disaster Relief in Haiti Team 1 has landed safely in Haiti and established themselves in the World Harvest compound. Their internet access is intermittent, but the latest available updates can be found at http://mutualaiddisasterrelief.org/reports.shtml
Summaries of the updates will be added to this article regularly.

Boston IMC's previous story on Mutual Aid Disaster Relief is at http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/209697/index.php

They have enough supplies for immediate operations, but will need to restock soon. They now have a Creole translator. Get more information and donate at http://mutualaiddisasterrelief.org/

UPDATE: MADRIH is now recognized as an official NGO by the UN, which gives them access to medical supplies and possibly an ambulance. They still need money for food and gas though, so please donate generously.

Aid to Haiti Hopelessly Inadequate, Poorly Organized
US aid to Haiti has been a tiny fraction of what is needed. With hundreds of thousands injured, and more without food and water, President Obama's feeble efforts have been aimed mostly at rescuing tourists and diplomats, with little consideration given to the people of Haiti. Mutual Aid Disaster Relief for Haiti Needs Assistance
A group of US-based street medics is organizing an independent, mobile medic team to offer direct mutual aid to survivors of the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. This group has the benefit of not being attached to a larger organization or government bureaucracy, which means they can mobilize in communities not currently being reached by relief efforts. Many of these same people were involved in the effective, community-based medical response to Hurricane Katrina, including the Common Ground Clinic.
