Puerto Rico Struggles to Rebuild from Hurricanes Say Religious Leaders
Hurricane Maria pummeled Puerto Rico last September 20th. According to the Associated Press, 60,000 thousand homes still have temporary or blue-tarp-covered roofs that would not survive a Category 1 hurricane. Tens of thousands of people across the island still lack access to housing or reliable electricity. After the hurricanes more than 130,000 people migrated to US States away from the island.

Jennifer Kerkhoff Will Never be a Federal Judge
The final admission of failure in the J20 case has made official what has been clear for some time - Jennifer Kerkhoff is done. As the public face of the J20 prosecution, she's going to take the hit for all the gaffes, misconduct, sanctions, dropped charges, and acquittals, however much or little of that was urged on her by her superiors. The best guess right now is she won't be disbarred, and will keep her job long enough that it doesn't look like she's being fired for screwing up this case. But she can wave goodbye to her chance at a federal judgeship or a partnership at a fancy DC law firm. It couldn't happen to a more deserving person.

Rally at MCI Norfolk on Malcolm X's Birthday
norfolk.jpgThe following report back discusses demonstrations that occurred on May 19th, the birthday of Malcolm X, which brought attention to horrific conditions in prisons across the US.

On May 19th, 2018, people from over a dozen organizations converged on the grounds of MCI-Norfolk in the pouring rain, where Malcolm X was incarcerated between 1946-1952. This day would have been Malcolm X’s 93rd birthday and saw multiple protests at prisons across the country to honor his legacy, including a protest at Lee Correctional Institution in South Carolina.

Western Massachusetts Nurses Hold One Day Strike at Baystate Franklin Medical Center - 23 April 2018
Mass Nurses in Greenfield.jpgNURSES AT Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) in Greenfield, Massachusetts, went on strike earlier this month for the second time in less than a year, followed by a lockout afterward imposed by management.

The 200 members of Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) have been working without a contract since December 2016. They held a first one-day walkout in June 2017.
