Statement in Support of Chuck Turner
Yesterday, Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner was sentenced to three years in federal prison for accepting a bribe. Turner has long been known for supporting radical causes and standing by his constituents, and the circumstances of his trial point to a concerted effort on the part of the Justice Department to silence his voice. Community Church of Boston's Jason Lydon has released the following statement.

Magallanes: Lessons in People's Mobilization for Chile and the World

In this context the government of the right-wing president Piñera announced that it would increase the price of gas by about 17%. This announcement was not well received by the population in Magallanes for obvious reasons. However, it is important to point that in the midst of this proposed increase in prices, the government is also firing personnel in the region and the country.

Protest for Bradley Manning in Back Bay
100_0071.JPGOn Saturday, December 15, about 50 protesters held a rally and march in Back Bay to raise awareness of the plight of Bradley Manning. Manning is an Army intelligence analyst who is accused of leaking more than 250,000 classified diplomatic cables to Wikileaks. He is currently being held in solitary confinement while not allowed to exercise, or sleep between the hours of 5 AM and 8 PM.

The next Northeast Anarchist Network assembly will be in Rochester, NY on February 11-13.

We are excited to welcome NEAN to Rochester for a weekend full of discussions, networking and fun, and to give you all an opportunity to see some of what's going on in our city! The assembly will be hosted at the Flying Squirrel Community Space (www.thesquirrel.org), and we are asking for a sliding scale contribution of $10-20 from attendees. Spirited Protest at Israeli Consulate
