Pinochet is dead! It is time to kill the system that spawned him!
14 Dec 2006
The fact that the death of Pinochet on Sunday sparked off celebrations in Chile and around the world should surprise no one. He was a hated figure, a living symbol of the real face of the bourgeoisie.

In "normal" times the capitalists prefer to govern through "democratic" parliamentary means, so long as their fundamental interests are guaranteed. But the capitalist system cannot always guarantee that its interests can be defended through parliamentary means. History is full of examples where the bourgeoisie has preferred to do away with the niceties of "democracy"... Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Suharto... the list is endless.

Mythic Figures Spooking Dubya
14 Dec 2006
President George W. Bush, the quintessential warmonger, is on the defensive! If you look close enough, you can see the fear in his eyes. Since 2005, Cindy Sheehan, an “Earth Mother,” has been challenging him to a face-to-face meeting. The cowardly Bush has declined. Meanwhile, other splendid activists, like the “Hero/Patriot” from the mythic past, are demanding the impeachment by the U.S. Congress of both Bush and V. P. Dick Cheney.

A Kingdom via Poetry
13 Dec 2006
I have added the only perfect poem to the "Kingdom" article to make this Kingdom last. The lawless Jacob has been banished from Chicago, but he skipped Dryden, New York for Bangor or thereabouts. Dryden will show for his work so it will not benefit him.

Open Meeting Law trial started today

Today in Suffolk Superior Court, room 304,
Judge Connolly presiding, the Open Meeting Law case started.

Because the burden of proof is on the defendants to prove
their innocence, they present their evidence first.

This is different from typical law because the framers of the
statute understood that the public is at a disadvantage about
knowing what goes on if people are not meeting in the prescribed
manner of Open Meetings.

Councilor Feeney was the first witness called. She explained
how she changed the pay categories and the pay scales for a large
number of municipal employees on her own without speaking to the
Mayor or any other councilor or anyone else.

According to her, no councilors asked her any questions or
requested information and no questions were asked of her at the
Boston City Council meeting on May 3, 2006 when the pay raises
for the council, the mayor and a large number of city workers
were approved in 6 minutes.

Councilor Turner was the second witness.
His testimony was short.

Tomorrow, defense counsel has informed the court that
Councilors Murphy, Ross and Flaherty will take the stand.
