Recess for Justice
15 Jun 2008
Join Socializing for Justice (SoJust) for Recess on Sunday, June 22nd at 1pm. Arrive by yourself or bring your outdoorsy friends!

Recess for Justice is going down at Southwest Corridor Park right off Lamartine and Boylston Streets in JP. (Exit Stonybrook T station on the Orange line, walk directly across the street to the park - we'll be on the field and in the courts right in front of you.)

Bring your favorite outdoor game or check out the assortment of fun we'll have on hand: Frisbees, kickball & chalk (for 4-square!), nerf football, softball (bring a glove) and whatever other randomness we can think of. If it's hot we can run through the fountain sprinkler to cool off.

Around 3pm we'll start to figure out what to do next. We might go to Ula Cafe or Java Jo's for coffee, smoothies, snacks and board games (bring 'em!).

Look no further if want to cross-promote your events and campaigns while tossing around a Frisbee, you're seeking like-minded folks to share a game of 4-square with, or are new to the area and looking for groups to get involved in. If you want to build a strong cross-issue social justice movement, SoJust is for you!

No Program. No Speaker. Just fun.

RSVP (and check out photos from the last time we held Recess for Justice) at - newcomers always welcome!

Fee: $2 to cover group expenses.

At SoJust events you can hang out with friends, make new ones, find a date, get the scoop on a job, and find out what's going on this weekend - political or social. And the best part is that SoJust members share your vision of building a more just world.

Want to connect outside of SoJust events? Members view and post events, job & volunteer announcements, roommate searches, etc. on the website - just click 'Messages'. The SoJust Calendar is packed with social justice-related events held throughout Greater Boston. Help us keep it filled - tell us about events you hear about.

Iraq War Creates Shortage of Night Vision Goggles for Civilian US Medical Pilots
15 Jun 2008
The war in Iraq is creating a major - and perhaps deadly - shortage of night vision goggles for civilian pilots who fly medical helicopters in the U.S. The National Transportation Safety Board has encouraged the use of such equipment since 2006 to reduce the risk of deadly nighttime crashes during emergency medical flights. But air ambulance services that fly sick or injured people to the hospital have been put on waiting lists of a year or more by makers of night vision gear because the U.S. military has contracts that give it priority.

Modified: 15 Jun 2008
The events described below justifify the removal of our 'Orthodox Jewish' U.S.Attorney General Muckasey as well as the fascist Israeli-American 'citizen' Michael Chertoff who helped create the U.S. Homeland Security office he oversees as well as ICE or Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Fitting that ICE is also a slang term used for methamphetamines in English.

Can geoengineering save us from global warming?
13 Jun 2008
Last week, the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) held a conference that asked if geoengineering was a feasible solution to lower our planet's temperature, at least temporarily. The question is what to do if man-made global warming turns out to be a serious problem? At AEI, climatologist Tom Wigley from the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado defined geoengineering as the deliberate modification of the earth's short wave radiation budget in order to reduce the magnitude of climate change. In his presentation, Wigley looked mostly at two possible approaches to geoengineering: injecting sulfate or other aerosols into the stratosphere, and changing the reflectivity of clouds.
