Libby WILL WALK in CIA Leak: Boston's Brewster-Jennings Employees Went Public |
by Carolyn Kuhn |
11 Mar 2006
|
LIBBY WILL WALK in CIA Leak Case -- (1) US Attorney Partrick Fitzpatrick can't successfully prosecute him because national-security concerns prevent Libby's lawyers from getting CIA records they need to mount a defense, and this is required for a trial. A federal judge today ordered that Libby's lawyers be provided with summaries of Presidential Daily Briefings, but that will never happen. The CIA will object and Bush will cite "executive privilege."
(2) Libby never should have been indicted for leaking former CIA officer Valerie Plame's name, because her so-called cover company, Brewster-Jennings Associates (BJA) in Boston, was not undercover. Former employees like Jean C. Edwards and Robert Lawrence Ellmann even advertise their associations with the company on the Internet! They were doing so before Brewster-Jennings and Valerie Plame came to light and they still are. |

International Women's Day in the Philippines |
by Martsa ng Kababaihan (Women's March) |
11 Mar 2006
|
Women of different political groups and professions were present at the March. Thirteen major groups joined forces under the banner “Martsa ng Kababaihan”. Present in big numbers were members of Akbayan, LABAN ng MASA, Bayan, Black and White Movement, women advocate groups like Gabriela Women’s Party, Welga ng Kababaihan, and WomenSpeak. In an interesting twist of history, this was the first time that the women’s movements gathered together in a common cause since the Marcos dictatorship. |

Did Israel President Moshe Katsav aid Muslim Terrorism or only fraud ? |
by Tony Ryals |
10 Mar 2006
|
The land of International penny stock fraud makes for strange bedfellows and here often right wing cons of all stripes lie together. So it should come as no surprise that by touting or allowing his name to be used to tout a Michael Zwebner pump and dump penny stock scam(one of many over the years) President of Israel Moshe Katzav not only mixes his name and reputation with American mafia and international crooks and gangsters but also Mr.Zwebner's business partner in a number of scams over the years including UCSY or Universal Communications Systems is the infamous Mohamed Hadid,a Palestinian of ill repute connected to the Herndon,Virginia Muslim charity suspected in both money laundering and terrorist funding activities, including Al Qaeda. |

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION FOR BABY SEALS! |
by volunteer |
10 Mar 2006
|
Each spring in Atlantic Canada, over 300,000 defenseless baby harp seals are massacred on the ice floes. In a matter of weeks, a pristine white nursery turns crimson, with hundreds of thousands of lifeless, skinless bodies strewn all over the ice. This industrial slaughter nets these off-season fishermen only about $40 a pelt.
The massacre is perpetrated by a few thousand Canadians who beat and shoot these seals and skin many of them alive. The money these sealers receive for this is only about 5% of their yearly income from fishing. If these fishermen only stayed home for an extra two weeks, they would continue to earn the Employment Insurance benefits that they earn every year during the off-season. |

The consequences of the US-led war against Iraq |
by James Cogan |
10 Mar 2006
|
In speaking on the political situation in Iraq, I propose to expand on the theme outlined by David North in his opening remarks: examining—and responding to—the prognosis that is advanced by the defenders of the existing economic and social order, and by the Bush administration in particular.
In March 2003, the official prognosis concerning Iraq—or, more accurately, the official propaganda—went broadly as follows:
The US-led invasion was a necessary and justified intervention to remove a brutal dictator whose regime threatened world peace and stability by its efforts to acquire weapons of mass destruction and its support for international terrorism. |

Philippines: Lifting of PP 1017 - The beginning of Arroyo’s downfall |
by Alliance of Progressive Labor (APL) |
10 Mar 2006
|
The lifting of Presidential Proclamation 1017 is a victory for the Filipino people! It was not the will of GMA, but the will of a determined people, who had continuously fought and challenged the proclamation and held protest actions to oust her from office, that made such lifting possible. |
