10 Mar 2006
Feb24_EDSA_March_034.sized.jpgThe lifting of Presidential Proclamation 1017 is a victory for the Filipino people! Rubberstamp for police-state measures

The reawakening of the world working class
09 Mar 2006
Politics is the science of perspectives. This is the key to all our work. The present world situation entirely confirms the general line of our perspectives worked out in previous world perspectives documents. It may be necessary to correct this or that detail, but the fundamental analysis of the period through which we are passing has been confirmed by the march of events. This should strengthen our confidence in the ideas of Marxism and in ourselves.
It is a supreme irony that so many have abandoned Marxism – some explicitly, others implicitly – precisely when history has vindicated its main postulates in a laboratory fashion. The bourgeois, the reformists, the Stalinists and the sects, have not the slightest idea of the real processes at work. It is not an accident that all other tendencies are all in a state of utter confusion, pessimistic and skeptical. The strategists of the bourgeoisies – especially in the USA – have no real perspectives. In the words of Trotsky, they are tobogganing towards disaster with their eyes closed.

Worcester residents call for investigation of race bias claims
09 Mar 2006
Modified: 10:21:44 AM
About 150 students, teachers and Worcester residents gathered at City Hall Wednesday, March 8th to support South High basketball coach Pat Williams and to call for full review the City’s failure to respond to the serious charges of ongoing racial bias by officials that he has made.

After South lost a close playoff game on Sunday night in double-overtime to Holy Name, a game in which South had been leading before a long series of fouls were called against them, Williams accused the referees of bias and possible racism. Williams' criticisms were quickly covered-up by Worcester school administrators, including Athletic Director Joe Pepi, and Asst. Superintendent Stephen Mills. Rather than responding to Coach Williams’ charges, Pepi and Mills quickly dismissed them by apologizing to game referees and Holy Name and threatening in the media that Coach Williams would face repercussions.
