Political movements require momentum, they need to consistently build and aggregate. When they take a lengthy break from organizing and stop the momentum it is difficult to re-start.
Syria has pulled all major spy centers from Beirut, ending a 15-year reign of terror and leaving the Lebanese capital to breath free from the watching Moukhabarat eyes and listening ears for the first time since the end of the civil war.
Bush’s Coalition of the Willing allies are dropping like flies. Of 39 “members,” 14 have already quit and two more have announced plans to pull out, and now Italy, the third largest U.S. ally in the so-called coalition, says it’s leaving too. Can Britain be far behind?
