"REVOLUTION: Why It's Necessary, Why It's Possible, What It's All About" Premieres in Los Angeles
30 Jul 2004
July 8, 2004. As the sun began to set in Los Angeles, the marquee at the Santa Monica Laemmle Theater that read "Revolution With Bob Avakian" was the brightest thing along the horizon--even brighter than the reflection of the sun along the beach only a few blocks away. It was the world premiere of REVOLUTION, Why It's Possible, Why It's Necessary, What It's All About , a film of a talk Bob Avakian delivered in 2003.*

For weeks we had been building for the premiere on college and high school campuses, at concerts and at movie lines where people were waiting to see Fahrenheit 9/11. We held video showings with our friends and contacts, giving them a taste of who Bob Avakian is, and worked with them to bring their circles of friends to the premiere.

More than 270 people from all corners of L.A. filled the seats in the theater to hear what Bob Avakian, a wide-ranging and creative communist thinker and leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, had to say about the big questions that burn in the hearts of many people who hate the way things are and are searching for a way out.

30 Jul 2004
Modified: 06:55:04 PM
QRkissIn.jpgA rowdy group of 60-70 Radical Queers gave avid convention goers and curious onlookers some things to think about during a "Kiss- In" at Fanieul Hall yesterday. At around 6:30 PM, while nearby TV's pumped out convention coverage, Radical Queers shouted slogans like "Keep your laws off my body", "we're here, We're queer, and we want your children". and "Ten Percent is not enough" and kissed each other passionately.

Kerry's Speech: Vacuous and Recipe for a Failed Administration
30 Jul 2004
Kerry's Gore-like acceptance speech offered few specifics and, if it's an indication of the type of campaign he'll be running, he will end up with no mandate to confront a Republican Congress even if he does defeat Bush

Billy Bragg and Friends Rock the Middle East
30 Jul 2004
On Saturday, July 24th, Billy Bragg and company showed up at the Middle East Cafe for a four hour shindig. The event was a fundraiser for the Boston Social Forum taking place that weekend and was attended by 500 screaming fans.
Bragg, who played two sets was joined by the Foundation, the Reagan Babies and the Acid Reggae Experience for the show.
It was a unique sound sensation as the working class folk rock of Bragg was followed by the Hip Hop beats of the foundation and the folk/blues/punk of the Reagan Babies. The political message was clear: "Another World Is Possible." Local favorites the Reagan Babies took this to heart engaging the crowd in a high energy set with all new tunes that proclaimed "The King bleeds oil" and "Resistance is a fine wine." Before they settled down with "American Mess" (which included a stage dive by the Campbell's Soup Boy model) the Babie's Eddy Dyer had his pants off and was dancing a russian jig.
Acid Reggae Experience closed out the night with some mellow..well, you got it- Reggae. It was the perfect come down.
