Online Harassment Of Activists Decreases As The FBI Redeploys For Real World Harassment
25 Jul 2004
As most of us have noticed, the FBI has been sweeping the United States with personal visits to activists during the days leading up to the Democratic Party Convention in Boston. Most effected by the sweep have been anarchists. As the target of an FBI online harassment operation, I could not help but to notice the inverse relationship between the real world harassment and the online harassment. It appears that as more agents have been deployed in the field, fewer are available to harass activists online.

What you won't hear: 12 topics Democrats will duck at convention
25 Jul 2004
The Democratic National Convention that gathers in Boston this week to nominate John F. Kerry for president will be more like a coronation than a competition. Huzzahs, speeches, bands, balloons. These affairs have long lost any suspense or spontaneity, but somewhere amid the endless corporate schmoozing and lobbyist glad-handing, you'd expect an ounce of inspiration.

DNC Shortchanges Media On Bathrooms
25 Jul 2004
As the majority of the print reporters arrived Saturday at the FleetCenter for the Democratic National Convention, tongues clucked when they saw the restroom facilities that they will be using for the next week. Twenty portable restrooms, like those used on construction sites, are lined up in front of the media pavilion to service nearly 1,200 members of the print media who will be working around the clock.

Mission Accomplished: The Failings of the 9/11 Commission
25 Jul 2004
While the report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks in the US documents many of the failures of the US intelligence agencies leading up to the attacks of September 11, 2001, it leaves many basic questions unanswered.
Many of the shortcomings of the report are directly attributable to the limited charge given to the Commission in its creation, and the significant conflicts of interest among the Commission members, all prominent politicians or members of the national security team. Congress and President Bush only reluctantly agreed to the Commission's creation due to the lobbying and moral pressure from family members of the 9/11 victims. Controlling the damage to the President, Congress, the foreign policy establishment and the two major parties was the overwhelming mandate of the Commission members.
