Bush administration has used 27 rationales for war in Iraq, study says |

If it seems that there have been quite a few rationales for going to war in Iraq, that’s because there have been quite a few – 27, in fact, all floated between Sept. 12, 2001, and Oct. 11, 2002, according to a new study from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. All but four of the rationales originated with the administration of President George W. Bush. |

There is Always More to a Story than its Headline |

I was thinking about the Boston Herald headline the day after those “contractors” had been butchered in Iraq. That headline read, “Savages: Iraqi mob kills and burns 4 American civilians.” (Boston Herald, April 1, 2004, news.bostonherald.com) My mind raced. There had to be more to the story then what they were telling us in the headline. I mean, could the very people we were there to liberate suddenly become the savages the papers wanted to see massacred? Was there more to this story? Well, indeed there is always more to any story. |

In the dream I saw John Kerry wildly pumping his fist as George W. Bush seethed with anger. At Bush's side stood his family. Jeb, who unlike four years ago, this time, failed to deliver the state of Florida to his brother's electorate column. Barbara, his mom, wearing her trademark pearls and gently wiping the tears from her son's face. Laura his wife of 27 years was soothing the wrinkles on his forehead; while his father, the elder Bush, stoically declared: "You should have gotten out of Iraq when you had the chance." |
