On Sunday, Oct. 6, the day before the anniversary of the bombing of Afghanistan, mass actions will be held in major cities, bringing together tens of thousands of people who together will take the Not in Our Name Pledge of Resistance. They will declare their opposition to the government's course and pledge to resist--and stop--this war on the world, the detentions and roundups of immigrants and the escalating police state restrictions in this country. The events will send a message to the people of the world that George Bush does not speak or act for all the American people.

Boston may face a wholesome-sounding Indoor Smoking Ban. Proprietors and smokers are to bear burdens of law for effects of a product they had no part in making...OR secretly spiking with many of the world's worst industrial toxins and carcinogens. This is a massive liability dodge by the likes of Big Oil, Pesticides and a pack of others.

Roughly fifty people gathered at 5:30 PM in front of Au Bon Pain in Harvard Square in Cambridge to protest a recent speech by Harvard Univesity President Larry Summers in which Summers criticized protestors of Israel as being "anti-Semitic in their effect, if not their intent."

and pro Israel policy The Harvard Crimson cut out most of the
interview with Rita Hamad, former president of Harvard Arab
Students sociey to mark the Intifada (see below)...it is not
the first of anti Arab actions by the Harvard
administartion...last year they allowed the Hillel to use a
PA system and when the Arab students asked for it, the
request was denied on the basis that the PA system would
disrupt classes.
