From the "don't-believe-everything-you-see-on-tv" department: It was hard to miss the pictures yesterday coming from Baghdad, especially the photogenic images of a statue being toppled by a crowd of Iraqis. As much as we like to see any statue of a world leader toppled, at least it should be done by regular people, not by stage managers located just off stage. |

SPEECH NOREENA HERTZ - Iraq has been just one of the many countries that have been lent money to support our geopolitical or corporate interests, no matter how brutal their rulers. Most of these countries are still paying for these monies even after they have been 'freed' from tyrannical regimes. Let us not now add Iraq to this list! |
