Almost daily there are marches leaving from Occupied Dewey Square. There are interesting political actions happening and being planned every single day in Boston. Summits, workshops, film screenings, civil disobedience, and direct actions, why aren't they being reported and announced on this website? Why does indymedia work so well in other parts of the world, while it flounders here? |

In this day and age it's so easy for us to think only of ourselves and not be willing to give up some of who we are for things greater than ourselves and the drives of our own base needs. Often we label people giving of themselves in such ways saints, heroes, miracle workers etc. In reality they are usually just people that decided they needed or wanted to give of themselves because they really wanted to invest the time/lend a hand, etc.</ |

We, the undersigned women of African descent and anti-violence advocates, activists, scholars, organizational and spiritual leaders wish to address the SlutWalk. First, we commend the organizers on their bold and vast mobilization to end the shaming and blaming of sexual assault victims for violence committed against them by other members of society. We are proud to be living in this moment in time where girls and boys have the opportunity to witness the acts of extraordinary women resisting oppression and challenging the myths that feed rape culture everywhere. |

Philippine Airline workers intensify protest actions |
by PALEA, PM, APL, Akbayan, PLM (No verified email address) |

The Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association (PALEA) today asserted that Philippine Airlines (PAL) President Jaime Bautista’s announcement that they no longer acknowledge Gerry Rivera and Bong Palad as union officers exposes union busting as the real aim of outsourcing. “Truly a fish is caught by its mouth. Actually PAL is not just recognizing me and Palad as union officers but 62% of PALEA’s leadership and 70% of its membership who have been illegally lockout and terminated. Outsourcing thus is tantamount to union busting,” stated Gerry Rivera, PALEA president and vice chair of Partido ng Manggagawa (PM - Labor Party). |
