Last year, the school was renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, but opponents assert that a new name has changed nothing. They continue their campaign demanding that Congress cut funding to the school and close it down. In California, 26 Green Party members were elected to office on November 5, including eleven City Council members. The 5.3% received by Peter Camejo (the Green's Governor candidate) set a record going back to 1934; and in San Francisco Camejo came in second (ahead of Republican Bill Simon) with 15.9%!
