The Boston Campus Anti-War Coalition and NYSAW (New York Schools Against War) will host the Northeast Campus Conference Against War and Racism to organize students across the Northeast in the wake of September 11. The conference will be held the weekend of November 10 and 11, as part of a National Weekend of Conferences that activists say will escalate pressure to stop the war abroad and at home.
Network news outlets have reported stories about civilian casualties in Afghanistan with caution, often noting that Taliban claims are nearly impossible to verify. But many outlets show no inclination to be equally careful when evaluating the Pentagon's line on casualties.
n October 18, Professor Noam Chomsky spoke at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. MIT's Technology and Culture forum (web.mit.edu/tac) presented Chomsky as he gave a lecture on the "war on terrorism." Thousands of people attended the event, as the main hall and three of the overflow rooms (with live video) were completely filled. The talk was also broadcast on the web.
