This commentary seeks to provide the historical and political contexts for the barbaric massacre of 57 civilians last Nov 23 by the Ampatuan warlord clan in Maguindanao, Philippines. Arroyo's declaration of martial law portends a whitewashing of all evidence demonstrating the Arroyo-Ampatuan complicity in one of the most heinous crimes against humanity. Supported by Washington with over $30 million tax dollars annually, the Arroyo regime is rehearsing its illegal extension of its corrupt, fascist rule, with over a thousand victims of extra-judicial killings, abductions, tortures by the military and policy,all under the aegis of the US war of terror. |
