Protesters then listened to a Chilean activist who showed the scars he
received in jail during the Pinochet regime. He had his toes and nose
broken with a rifle butt during the two years he was incarcerated. He also
had his eyes bruised badly so that his vision has been impaired and watched
his friends get murdered or disappeared. This explanation was given in
front of a neighbor who became acutely aware of the seriousness of the
Pinochet's legacy on the education system.
The state bailout of these gigantic real estate institutes, banks and insurances and the enormous economic package to get the crisis-weakened economy on its feet again is one of the essential causes of the present debt crisis.. The US government up to 2010 pulverized $5.5 trillion for the military and weapons. A dozen wars have bled white the power of the US, the "sole superpower."
Some of you may have noticed that the Lucy Parsons Center has moved! We have
moved from our old location at 549 Columbus Avenue in the South End to our
new location at 358A Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. We were able to
purchase the new space with money from our dedicated building fund. Not
having to pay rent puts us on a viable financial footing for the first
time in many years.
