Over the course of the last two elections we handed one party the majority of power in order for them to pass an agenda they promised to deliver on. The results were mixed, and that coupled with the high unemployment rate prompted many to say let’s balance things out again. Being as right now there are only two political parties in the US, that means we now put in the guys we just put out for a record which included much worse results over the period of the two terms of the George W. Bush Presidency. Nonetheless, we will put the GOP in control in at least one chamber, and we go forward with hope that this time it will be different.

philippines-protest.jpgThe labor row at Philippine Airlines (PAL) flares up once more at the start of the airline peak season with its workers starting today a series of protest actions against the recent decision of Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz to allow the mass layoff of some 3,000 workers. At 10:00 a.m. today dozens of members of the Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association (PALEA), the ground crew union at PAL, held a symbolic protest at the main office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Intramuros, Manila.
