NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL CALL TO ACTION!!!
FEBRUARY 15, 2003 – PORTLAND, MAINE!!!
The following is a call to action for all people in Portland, Maine, Northern New England and beyond to come to Portland, Maine on Saturday, February 15, 2003 to stand in opposition to the U.S. government’s pending war on Iraq. February 15 is an international day of action against the war, with huge demonstrations being planned around the world. If you live in Maine or the northeast U.S. and you aren’t going to New York or an anti-war event in your local area, please consider joining us in Portland. In solidarity with millions of people around the world, we will take to the streets as part of the struggle against this war and all wars orchestrated by the global elite for power, oil and profit.
Last night (Feb. 6), over 30 people met at Portland West Community Center to further solidify plans for the demonstration. There is another public organizing meeting on February 13, and a banner/puppet/sign making gathering on February 11. Please see the bottom of this message for more info on these events, and for information on an emergency response, should the U.S. start to attack Iraq before February 15.

We come from varying backgrounds and political tendancies, but are united in our opposition to war. Many of us are long-time activists or involved in community organizing in Portland in some capacity, while many of us have just recently joined the anti-war struggle.
** We will not be applying for permits from the city for this march. Lawyers and trained legal observers will be on hand.
