Background from RAN...

Citigroup (Citi), the parent company of Hartford-based Traveler's Life & Annuity, is the world' s largest financial institution and one of the most powerful corporations on the planet. Citi dominates the financial sector, making critical decisions that determine which industries receive billions of dollars in funding and which industries are starved for investment. Tragically, Citi is fueling global warming and deforestation by funneling money to the destructive oil, mining, and logging industries. Citi is also a major player in global financial markets, wreaking havoc with the economies of countries like Brazil and Argentina. Closer to home, the company has been investigated for predatory lending in low-income communities of color, as well as helping companies like Enron steal from the retirement accounts of countless investors.

Rainforest Action Network (RAN) is leading a global campaign targetting Citigroup, the "World's Most Destructive Bank," demanding that they stop using their customers' money to fund environmental and social destruction around the world. Whether in terms of human rights abuses, erosion of democracy, destruction of rainforests, or the violence resulting from our addiction to oil in places as far apart as Ecuador and Iraq, Citigroup is using its customers' money to fund environmentally and socially destructive projects around the world. Help us put this destruction to an end! Until they adopt comprehensive social and environmental standard across all areas of their business, we'll continue to say, "Not With My Money!"
