NOT MY PRESIDENT's DAY
A Rock' n Roll Peace Rally

"No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."
James Madison, 1795

"Not Our President's Day"
Sunday, Feb 16th,

1 to 5 pm at the YWCA, Hanam Hall, 7 Temple St., Central Square, Cambridge. Free admission.

Musician and freelance journalist David Wildman has organized a free, all-ages peace concert of rock, rap, reggae and avant-garde musicians. There will also be comedians, performance artists and political figures throughout the Boston music and arts community joining together for this spirited statement against the impending war in Iraq.

Musical lineup:
ROGER MILLER of the band Mission Of Burma.

WILDMAN, David Wildman's activist rock group that will be celebrating the
release their new CD "Flag Retirement" at the event

THE PEASANTS, a solid Boston rock band with a raucous message of dissent

THE FOUNDATION, a rap group with a strong political conscience

EVAN GREER, a high school-aged Dylan-style protest singer and political activist

THE CLICHÉ'S, a young, hard-hitting punk rock outfit

Toshi Hoo (aka Dr. Hoo) will present a video that mixes the State of The Union address with the Superbowl.

Political comedy by TIM MCINTYRE and ERIC WALKER.

Speech by Boston City Councilor CHUCK TURNER.

MISS DOMINICA K twirls batons to "Fortunate Son"

Sponsored by United for Justice with Peace, UJP Cambridge, and HIPJ with special thanks to WBCN and Indecent Music.

David Wildman is a veteran of local rock groups Fire In The Boathouse, Kaspar Hauser and Thinner and has written for The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, and the activist website commondreams.org. He also pens a bi-weekly political column in The Weekly Dig.

He opened the November 3rd anti-war rally on the Boston Common with his song "God Damn Mistake". The performance was made into a video overnight, by independent video producer Steve Garfield, and subsequently broadcast on cable TV and on the website indymedia.org. as well as being show to thousands at the Macworld exhibition in San Francisco.

Accolades for the WILDMAN CD "Flag Retirement" on the Indecent Music Label: "Picking up the melody from modern-day protest rockers Midnight Oil, WILDMAN carries its angry riffs directly to the Bush administration." -Boston Magazine

"WILDMAN'S new millennium protest music is rock' n roll truth serum, an antidote to the presidential poison that's blinding us as Bush and his greedhead compatriots crush the heart of America." - Ted Drozdowski, Boston Phoenix

"I believe that the power of rock music can still move mountains," says Wildman.

"People are frightened and frustrated. Music can be a forum for bringing us together. The Bush administration is trying to limit our ability to effectively gather and speak out to change things. This means that we have to speak out whenever we can and as loudly as we can."

This is the first in a series of peace concerts now in the planning stage.

The second is being targeted for April and will feature bigger local and national names.

Legendary punk/poetess Patti Smith has already expressed interest in performing.
