The deal went like this:
Cheney agrees for Halliburton to take on the Dresser asbestos liability.
It is determined that Bush and Cheney will be (s)elected, and that the PNAC plan will be implemented - using 9/11 as the essential pretext.
Ken Lay plays his role using his Enron smoke and mirrors tactics to create a faux energy crisis in California, causing the public to demand an energy-savvy administration be elected.
With the asbestos liability and other matters hanging in the balance, the election of 2000 simply had to be rigged in order for the plan to go in to effect. (Recall the stopping of the Votes in Jebb Bush's Florida, by Delay's henchmen, and subsequent forwarding election to Supreme Court)
Following the appointment of Bush and Cheney, the secret energy planning meeting established which oil companies would reap the rewards of the pending invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran.
The timing and the pretext were predetermined, and 9/11 was greenlighted for 9/11/2001. Cheney outsourced the implementation to Mossad, and ran the show from his bunker on D Day under the cover of preplanned drills simulating the exact attack that was proscribed, with NORAD as coconspirator. At least 50 administration officials and countless foreign agents were in on it.
Once the entire charade was concluded, the Administration generally, and Cheney specifically, had every reason in the world to blame Iraq.
The Afghanistan mission could not provide Halliburton with enough revenue to offset the massive asbestos liability claim. Iraq and Iran are essential wars in order to provide cover for the infusion of the billion of TAX DOLLARS necessary to both profit Halliburton for its actual work AND cover the massive asbestos liability claims.
Now you know why Halliburton was awarded the contracts without the need to bid for them. This was all prearranged.
NOTE: Private enterprise pushed its legal/financial obligations onto tax payers using war as the excuse.
The asbestos liability claims of Dresser Industries were ultimately paid by you and me, and our troops in the field, all to ensure that the investors in Dresser didn't take the multibillion dollar loss.

WASHINGTON -- Photographs taken by a Marine intelligence team have convinced investigators that a Marine unit killed as many as 24 unarmed Iraqis, some of them "execution-style," in the insurgent stronghold of Haditha after a roadside bomb killed an American in November, officials close to the investigation said Friday.
The pictures are said to show wounds to the upper bodies of the victims, who included several women and six children. Some were shot in the head and some in the back, congressional and defense officials said.
ADVERTISEMENT One government official said the pictures showed that infantry Marines from Camp Pendleton "suffered a total breakdown in morality and leadership, with tragic results."
The case may be the most serious incident of alleged war crimes in Iraq by U.S. troops. Marine officers have long been worried that Iraq's deadly insurgency could prompt such a reaction by combat teams.
An investigation by an Army general into the Nov. 19 incident is to be delivered soon to the top operational commander in Iraq. A separate criminal investigation is also underway and could lead to charges ranging from dereliction of duty to murder.
Both investigations are centered on a dozen Marines from the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The battalion was on its third deployment to Iraq when the killings occurred.
Most of the fatal shots appear to have been fired by only a few of the Marines, possibly a four-man "fire team" led by a sergeant, said officials with knowledge of the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The same sergeant is suspected of filing a false report downplaying the number of Iraqis killed, saying they were killed by an insurgent's bomb and that Marines entered the Iraqis' homes in search of gunmen firing at them. All aspects of his account are contradicted by pictures, statements by Marines to investigators and an inspection of the houses involved, officials said.
Other Marines may face criminal charges for failing to stop the killings or for failing to make accurate reports.
Of the dead Iraqis, 19 were in three to four houses that Marines stormed, officials said. Five others were killed near a vehicle.
The intelligence team took the pictures shortly after the shooting stopped. Such teams are typically assigned to collect information on insurgents after firefights or other military engagements.
Investigators and top officers of the Camp Pendleton-based 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which oversees Marine infantry, aviation and support units in Iraq, have viewed the pictures.
The incident began when a roadside bomb attached to a large propane canister exploded as Marines passed through Haditha, a town on the Euphrates River. Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, who was driving a Humvee, was killed and two other Marines were wounded.
Marines quickly determined that the bomb was a "line-of-sight" explosive that would have required someone to detonate it. Marines and Iraqi forces searched houses and other structures in the narrow, dusty streets. Jets dropped 500-pound bombs and a drone aircraft circled overhead.
Time magazine, in a report published in March, quoted witnesses, including a 9-year-old girl, Eman Waleed, who said that she saw Marines kill her grandparents and that other adults in the house died shielding her and her 8-year-old brother, Abdul Rahman.
An elder in Haditha later went to Marine officials at the battalion's headquarters to complain of wanton killings.
The Marines involved in the incident initially reported that they had become embroiled in a firefight with insurgents after the explosion. However, evidence that later emerged contradicted that version.
"There wasn't a gunfight, there were no pockmarked walls," a congressional aide said.
"The wounds indicated execution-style" shootings, said a Defense Department official who had been briefed on the contents of the photos.
The Marine Corps backed off its initial explanation, and the investigations were launched after Time published its account.

Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations. Notice of the development came in a brief entry in the Federal Register, dated May 5, 2006, that was opaque to the untrained eye.
Unbeknownst to almost all of Washington and the financial world, Bush and every other President since Jimmy Carter have had the authority to exempt companies working on certain top-secret defense projects from portions of the 1934 Securities Exchange Act. Administration officials told BusinessWeek that they believe this is the first time a President has ever delegated the authority to someone outside the Oval Office. (Note: This article is written with empathy for all who were injured or who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001 or in the wars that followed, and with deep respect for the memory of all who have died. It is also written out of the conviction that important facts about the 9/11 events have been "officially" covered up and that the truth must be brought to light. Though the subject matter is profoundly troubling, the writer hopes this article will offer some new perspectives, raise new questions, and assist others who are seeking truth in the interest of preventing future troubles.)

Thanks to the 9/11 Truth movement, millions worldwide know that the "independent" 9/11 Commission included key members with uncomfortably close ties to the current and former White House administrations, and that the Commission's official report obscures, twists, or even ignores many crucial facts and much of the known evidence.
Millions worldwide have learned that WTC Building 7's collapse was NOT due to fire; the owner of Building 7--a 47-story, steel-framed, late 1980s-era skyscraper which was NOT hit by an airplane on 9/11--personally stated in a 2002 Public Broadcasting System documentary that he ordered that Building 7 be "pulled" (i.e., demolished, via controlled demolition using explosive charges) on the afternoon of 9/11. [1] (The 9/11 Commission's report makes no mention of Building 7.) Millions worldwide are also convinced the World Trade Center's twin towers were intentionally destroyed (pulverized, actually) via controlled demolition; they did not "collapse" from the heat of burning jet fuel, which burns far too coolly to "melt" structural steel--not to mention steel coated with asbestos fireproofing.

But as more eyewitness and expert reports surface regarding the controlled demolition, reports are also revealing that the buildings--in particular, the twin towers--were functionally obsolete and plagued with problems, including asbestos-related problems which would have been extremely expensive to solve. And just a few months before 9/11 (and just weeks before transferring the WTC into privatized ownership), the Port Authority of New York lost its ten-year legal battle with insurers over the cost of needed asbestos-abatement work in the WTC.
It's becoming clear that the World Trade Center buildings were, in a word, "disposable."
It's also becoming clear that disposing of the World Trade Center may have been highly profitable for certain parties, separate and apart from the military/industrial/political profits being reaped in the so-called "War on Terrorism" which 9/11 made possible and which apparently will never end (perhaps because a "War on Terrorism" is, by definition, unwinnable).
(And it's totally clear that the "attack" on the Pentagon, by destroying a mostly unoccupied section of the building, hit the Pentagon where it was most "disposable.")

> THE WORLD TRADE CENTER: OBSOLETE AND PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS
Those who thought the World Trade Center comprised some of New York's most desirable office space may have been mistaken.
In "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man," author John Perkins reflects on a walk he took through lower Manhattan shortly after 9/11:
"I recalled reading that the World Trade Center was a project started by David Rockefeller in 1960, and that in recent years the complex had been considered an ALBATROSS. It had the reputation of being A FINANCIAL MISFIT, unsuited to modern fiber-optic and Internet technologies, and burdened with an inefficient and costly elevator system. Those two towers once had been nicknamed David and Nelson. Now the albatross was gone." [3] [with emphasis added]
More detail comes from Rowland Morgan and Ian Henshall in their new book, "9/11 Revealed":
"The WTC began in disaster, just as it ended. A grossly misconceived Soviet-style land-development catastrophe...[it] was OBSOLETE LONG BEFORE IT WAS FINISHED. ...The oversized...site destroyed swathes of human-scale streetscape...the towers...stole light from buildings all across Manhattan. Their exterior-frame structure maximized interior space while minimizing views and making office workers depressed [the windows were barely wider than the 16"-wide steel exterior columns]. Space-saving on elevators that involved two changes up and down made for lengthy journey times. ...It would take a full two hours to evacuate everybody in a fire." [4] [with emphasis added]
Morgan and Henshall go on to note that BY 2001, MUCH OF THE TOWERS' OFFICE SPACE WAS EMPTY. The towers were due for a "mid-life rehab," but building codes would have REQUIRED REMOVAL OF THE ASBESTOS FIREPROOFING lining the towers' ceilings and steel framework. According to Morgan and Henshall, "Such a job would have been unrealistically expensive and physically impractical, with no gain in [rental] revenues." [5] [with emphasis added]
(In spite of these problems, it's worth remembering that given the proximity of major airports, the towers were DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND THE CRASH OF A FULLY LOADED, FUEL-FILLED BOEING 707--a large, four-engine airliner. This has been reported in numerous books and articles.)

> A LENGTHY, PRE-9/11 LEGAL BATTLE OVER THE WTC'S ASBESTOS PROBLEMS
The WTC's original owner, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, had been concerned about asbestos-abatement issues for many years prior to 9/11.
According to Karl Schwarz [6] and other writers, the Port Authority in 1991 filed suit in U.S. District Court against insurers in the hope of recovering funds to help pay for needed asbestos-abatement work at the WTC and one of the region's airports. In the suit, "Port Authority of NY vs. Affiliated FM Insurance Co.," the Port Authority sought between 500 million and 1 billion dollars from the insurers.
Note that this suit was filed TWO YEARS BEFORE the first so-called "terrorist attack" on the WTC; the truck-bomb explosion in the Center's underground parking garage in 1993.
Schwarz reports that the U.S. District Court judge ruled against the Port Authority as of May 14, 2001.
Less than three months later, the Port Authority transferred ownership of the WTC buildings to private investors.

CHENEY, HALLIBURTON, THE BUSH FAMILY, AND ASBESTOS
Dick Cheney, Halliburton, Inc., and, reportedly, the Bush family are surprisingly well acquainted with asbestos-related concerns. [7]
On December 18, 2002, CBS News reported that Halliburton "has agreed to pay about $4 billion in cash and stock to settle hundreds of thousands of asbestos claims against it." Reportedly, Halliburton inherited its asbestos liability from Harbison-Walker, a unit of Halliburton's subsidiary Dresser Industries, and from Halliburton's Kellog Brown & Root subsidiary.
On December 13, 2001, the World Socialist Web Site reported that "During the 2000 election campaign critics noted that in the last several years Cheney and Halliburton had contributed $157,500 to congressional candidates who had co-sponsored legislation to cut off victims' rights to a fair recovery when injured or killed as a result of asbestos exposure."
And on August 11, 2002, The Olympian (from Olympia, WA), carried a Washington Post article noting that:
"Dresser had close ties to a family Cheney knew well: the Bushes. Cheney's boss while he served as Secretary of Defense, President George H.W. Bush, was once being groomed to run Dresser, a company that Bush's father and grandfather had reshaped decades earlier.
When Dresser went public in the 1920s, it turned to W.A. Harriman & Co., whose president was George Herbert Walker, grandfather and namesake to former president Bush. Prescott Bush, the former president's father, helped organize Dresser and select its new president, H. Neil Mallon. Prescott Bush eventually sat on the board and by 1941, still held 1,900 shares of Dresser stock. Mallon was so close to former president Bush that he described him in his autobiography as "surrogate uncle and father-confessor." One of his sons, Neil Mallon Bush, is named after him. After World War II, Mallon employed George H.W. Bush and Dresser executives expected him to take over the company, according to journalist Darwin Payne, who wrote a history of Dresser. Instead, the former president left to prospect for oil.
While Cheney saw sound business reasons for acquiring Dresser, there was a problem in its past -- the use of asbestos in Harbison-Walker division products."

> THE WTC'S CHANGE TO PRIVATE OWNERSHIP--JUST WEEKS BEFORE 9/11
On July 24, 2001, private investors (Silverstein Properties, with minority partner Westfield America, Inc.) took control of the WTC under a 99-year lease.
In "Waking Up From Our Nightmare," Paul and Hoffman note that the WTC's estimated value at the time was 8 billion dollars. [8]
According to professor of economics Michel Chossudovsky, the lease called for payments to the Port Authority "amounting to 3.2 billion dollars in installments" payable over 99 years. With several hundred million dollars being provided by mortgage holders, Mr. Silverstein put just 14 million dollars of his own money into the deal. [9]
Quoting from a May 20, 2002 article in The New Yorker, Chossudovsky notes that "Explicity included in the [lease] agreement was that Silverstein and Westfield 'WERE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO REBUILD THE STRUCTURES IF THEY WERE DESTROYED.' " [9] [with emphasis added]
Paul and Hoffman add that "Quoting the British Financial Times of September 14, 2001, the American Reporter wrote that 'THE LEASE HAS AN ALL-IMPORTANT ESCAPE CLAUSE: IF THE BUILDINGS ARE STRUCK BY "AN ACT OF TERRORISM," THE NEW OWNERS' OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE LEASE ARE VOID. As a result, the new owners are not required to make any payments under their lease, but they will be able to collect on the loss of the buildings...destroyed and damaged in the attacks.' " (The American Reporter's article was titled "No Fraud, but Huge Profits Seen in World Trade Center Attacks.") [8] [with emphasis added]
It's also reported that Mr. Silverstein is "a large contributor to Democrat and Republican office-holders." [8]

> HAVE PRIVATE PROFITS BEEN REALIZED IN THE WAKE OF 9/11?
Many writers have addressed this question--and the question of whether insurance companies (and courts) would regard the 9/11 events at the WTC as a single incident or would regard each "attack" on a WTC tower as a separate incident for insurance purposes.
Paul and Hoffman report that as of 2004, "Silverstein Properties [was] still contesting the amount of [insurance] pay-out due for destruction of the Twin Towers--$3.55 billion for one 'occurrence' or $7.1 billion for two 'occurrences.' " [8]
A March 28, 2006 "Reader Rant" posting at www.capitolhillblue.com offers the following update, quoting from press reports: "In late 2004, [Mr. Silverstein was] tentatively awarded $2.2 billion, double what insurance companies offered to pay him. (UPI, 12/6/04) A judge also [made] a ruling that keeps open the possibility [Silverstein] could eventually receive as much as $6.4 billion. (Associated Press, 12/7/04)." [10]
As for Building 7, Paul and Hoffman note that unlike the rest of the WTC, this building was originally developed by Silverstein Properties, and Silverstein Properties was its leaseholder as of 9/11. They write that "About $386 million had been invested in WTC7 before its destruction," and that Silverstein Properties and Building 7's mortgage holders "received a court-awarded amount of $861 million dollars from Industrial Risk Insurers in February 2002." > HOW "CONTROLLED DEMOLITION' MIGHT HAVE BEEN ORCHESTRATED
If the WTC buildings were brought down using conventional demolition techniques, teams of demolition engineers or contractors would have required ample advance (pre-9/11) access to place explosive charges throughout the buildings' steel structures.
How could anyone have gained this access--and bypassed the buildings' security guards and systems?
One clue came from New York's Newsday on September 12, 2001: "The WTC was DESTROYED JUST DAYS AFTER A HEIGHTENED SECURITY ALERT WAS LIFTED AT THE LANDMARK 110-STORY TOWERS... The security detail had been working 12-hour shifts...because of numerous phone threats. But ON THURSDAY [September 6], BOMB-SNIFFING DOGS WERE ABRUPTLY REMOVED." [11] [with emphasis added]
Other reports stated that the WTC's south tower underwent a pre-announced (three weeks in advance) "power-down" on the weekend before 9/11, ostensibly for a cabling upgrade to improve the WTC's computer bandwith. With power off on floors 48-110, security cameras and electronic security locks on doors were inoperative, giving teams of "engineers" free access throughout at least the upper floors. (It also seems conceivable that vacant office space in either tower may have afforded an opportunity for demolition personnel--posing, perhaps, as remodeling contractors--to do preparatory tasks in the days or weeks before 9/11.)
Another report, quoting from the Utne Reader, noted that as of 9/11, Marvin Bush, brother of George W. Bush, was a "principal" with Securacom (aka Stratesec), the company "that provided security for the WTC, United Airlines, and Dulles International Airport." [12] Other reports identify Bush family relative Wirt Walker as a top executive of Securacom.
(Some 9/11 researchers and authors have addressed the possibility that the twin towers' demolition may have involved the use of non-conventional demolition techniques and/or sophisticated technologies that would be available only within the military/defense establishment. Certain news reports from Iraq and Afghanistan suggest that the U.S. military possesses high-tech weapon technologies that are highly destructive in an urban setting, but further discussion of this is beyond the scope of this article.)

> WAS "9/11" ACTUALLY ORCHESTRATED TO MINIMIZE LOSS OF LIFE?
At least two books offer relevant insights:
From Morgan and Henshall:
"The presumed hijackers were bloodthirsty religious fanatics, but in this macabre sense the 9/11 events were spectacularly unsuccessful: about 54,000 people worked in the Twin Towers or were visiting during office hours, and fewer than 2,600 were killed or disappeared. At the Pentagon there were over 20,000 staff, of whom 125 were killed or reported missing. If the hijackers had flown into the World Trade Center an hour or two later, or crashed into the roof of the Pentagon, instead of into the reinforced wall of an almost unoccupied segment, they could have killed thousands more... For believers in the official [9/11] story, if they noticed it at all, this was chance. For many 9/11 skeptics it was an indication the attacks had somehow been engineered." [13]
And from Eliot Weinberger's remarkable little book, "9/12":
"Because the attack happened early in the morning, the nearly 3,000 people who died were generally of three types: first, poor people--most of them black, Hispanic, or recent immigrants--who worked as janitors, handymen, food deliverers, and so on, in the towers and the adjoining buildings; second, low-ranking white collar workers: the secretaries and junior managers who had to be in the office before the bosses arrived; and third, firemen, policemen, and other rescue workers. VERY FEW TITANS OF CAPITALISM OR PEOPLE IN POWER DIED THAT DAY." [14] [with emphasis added]
After elaborating on the Bush administration's use of 9/11 to advance an aggressive, premeditated military agenda, Weinberger concludes:
"For the White House Team, the hijacked planes were a blessing from the sky." [14]
Is it possible the events of 9/11 were designed to cause "only enough" deaths to mobilize the American people to support a war--and to win the sympathy and support of other nations?
The neoconservative Project For The New American Century's report "Rebuilding America's Defenses," published in September, 2000, suggests that Americans (and Congress?) would be reluctant to support a rapid, costly "transformation" of the military--to aggressively establish and enforce the neocon's planned global "Pax Americana"--in the absence of "some catastrophic and catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor." And as of 2002, PNAC's website identified the lead author of this report, Thomas Donnelly, as a "top official" of military contractor Lockheed-Martin.
Is it merely a coincidence that the number of deaths on 9/11 was so close to the number who died in Pearl Harbor?

Cheney was Chairman and CEO of Halliburton October 1,1995-August 16, 2000. Cheney's tenure at Halliburton was a disaster. He made the decision for Halliburton to merge with Dresser Industries (for $8 billion dollars), thereby acquiring Dresser's asbestos liability, which had been drastically underestimated. Cheney had miscalculated the financial devastation of acquiring these claims and the massive losses were off-set on paper by fraudulent accounting procedures (see area #1), and not fully revealed until Cheney had sold his stock in Aug. 2002 (see area #5).

Cheney KNEW that Dresser had the most massive liability issue on planet earth (he had to have known) yet decided to pay good money to bring Dresser's problems under Halliburton's tent.
This raises the question...who were the largest shareholders of Dresser - in need of a lifeboat to save their own personal bacon? Anyone named Bush? Anyone named Carlyle?
The deal went like this:
Cheney agrees for Halliburton to take on the Dresser asbestos liability.
It is determined that Bush and Cheney will be (so)elected, and that the PNAC plan will be implemented - using 9/11 as the essential pretext.
Ken Lay plays his role using his Enron smoke and mirrors tactics to create a faux energy crisis in California, causing the public to demand an energy-savvy administration be elected.
With the asbestos liability and other matters hanging in the balance, the election of 2000 simply had to be rigged in order for the plan to go in to effect.
(Recall the stopping of the Votes in Jab Bush's Florida, by Delay's henchmen, and subsequent forwarding election to Supreme Court)
Following the appointment of Bush and Cheney, the secret energy planning meeting established which oil companies would reap the rewards of the pending invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran.
The timing and the pretext were predetermined, and 9/11 was greenlighted for 9/11/2001. Cheney outsourced the implementation to Mossad, and ran the show from his bunker on D Day under the cover of preplanned drills simulating the exact attack that was proscribed, with NORAD as coconspirator. At least 50 administration officials and countless foreign agents were in on it.
Once the entire charade was concluded, the Administration generally, and Cheney specifically, had every reason in the world to blame Iraq.
The Afghanistan mission could not provide Halliburton with enough revenue to offset the massive asbestos liability claim. Iraq and Iran are essential wars in order to provide cover for the infusion of the billion of TAX DOLLARS necessary to both profit Halliburton for its actual work AND cover the massive asbestos liability claims.
Now you know why Halliburton was awarded the contracts without the need to bid for them. This was all prearranged.
NOTE: Private enterprise pushed its legal/financial obligations onto tax payers using war as the excuse.
The asbestos liability claims of Dresser Industries were ultimately paid by you and me, and our troops in the field, all to ensure that the investors in Dresser didn't take the multibillion dollar loss.

DARIN PONTELL CALLS HOME FROM THE GRAVE According to the Washington Post, January 20, 2002, "The Last Watch," (front page, Style section), the entire chain of command of the super secret Chief of Naval Operations Intelligence Plot (CNO-IP) were killed in the September 11 attack on the Pentagon.
One of the victims was Darin Pontell, who worked in CNO-IP. The Post reported that two days after the attack, Darin's parents were still hoping Darin was alive. Here is an excerpt from "The Last Watch," Washington Post, January 20, 2001, pg.F1. "'Where'd I put my cell phone? Where is it?' Marilyn Pontell, Darrin's mother, grew frantic looking for her purse. Her Nokia was chiming 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game.' "Marilyn would be sick if she missed that call. Maybe it was news about her son. maybe it was Darin himself.
"Two days later, Marilyn and Gary Pontell still hoped their youngest boy had been spared. Gathered at Darin and Devora's apartment in Gaithersburg on Thursday afternoon, they could barely process the idea that he was dead . . .
"Navy officials gave garbled reports: One person said someone who looked like Darin walked from the scene. Somebody else claimed he was working far away, in the A-Ring. An officials said they couldn't find his Acura Integra in the Pentagon lot . . .
"The Nokia sang again, then silence. Too late. when she finally got to the phone, Marilyn scrolled through the menu. One missed call: 1:57 p.m. No message. But the incoming number was clearly identified. It was Darin's.
"My God, maybe he was alive.
"For five more days, they waited. On Sept. 18, the Navy informed the Pontells that Darin's body had been positively identified. His cell phone was never returned to the family. They presume it was never found. Perhaps the flip-phone had somehow dialed Marilyn's number when the rubble shifted. But didn't all cell phones have to be turned off upon entry into the CNO-IP [Chief of Naval Operations Intelligence Plot]?
"The FBI offered a one-word explanation for that call: 'anomaly.'"

1993 WTC Bombing
The FBI planted and paid Emad A. Salem in New York and New Jersey to act as an agent provocateur, to recruit, organize and encourage Muslims to bomb the World Trade Center (WTC) in 1993. From March through June 1993 Mr. Salem recruited seven Muslims from the Abu Bakr mosque in Brooklyn and the al-Salaam mosque in Jersey City, where the Muslim cleric Sheik Abdel Rahman preached to incite violence in his terrorist cell. Salem had known Rahman from Egypt. Salem used the seven men to scout targets, plan tactics and obtain chemicals and parts for bombs. Salem also worked in the operation with a Sudanese man named Siddig Ali who was a follower of Abdel Rahman. The plans of the Salem and Rahman group also included bombings of United Nations headquarters in Manhattan and several other buildings, bridges and tunnels in New York
The FBI supplied a safe house for Salem's group in Queens. At the WTC trial US prosecutors and attorneys acknowledged Mr. Salem's role in organizing the safe house activities, but told the jury "he was merely providing an opportunity" to people who already wanted to commit crimes. According to tapes played at the trial, the FBI and US Attorneys clearly were shown to have intentionally used Salem as a provocateur.
Michael Chertoff was the US Attorney appointed by HW Bush and retained by Bill Clinton for New Jersey from 1990-1994. As US Attorney for New Jersey Chertoff was deeply involved with the 1993 WTC bombing sting operation using FBI monitoring of the Abdel Rahman and Salem's recruited cell members at the Al Salaam mosque in Jersey City. The US Attorney from New York who worked with Chertoff to prosecute the 1993 WTC bombing case was Patrick Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is also conducting the federal grand jury investigating the illegal outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, the wife of Ambassador Wilson who investigated claims of uranium acquisition by Iraq. Chertoff and Fitzgerald were fully aware of the statements made by prosecutors admitting that the FBI intentionally had provided the safe house for Salem terrorist recruits.
Federal trial testimony and tapes revealed that when Salem was asked to assemble the bomb for the WTC, Salem went to the FBI to ask that harmless powder be used to avoid deaths. But FBI and US Attorneys involved essentially cut Salem off and the WTC was bombed killing people in 1993. Testimony by two of Salem's FBI agent handlers, Mr. Anticev, and Mrs. Nancy Floyd, confirmed that their FBI supervisors intentionally refused the agents and Salem's pleas to render the WTC bomb harmless.
Three years after the 1993 WTC bombing, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, who prosecutors said helped mastermind the 1993 bombing, was also convicted. Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, Yousef's uncle and an engineer trained in the US, was named by the FBI and DOJ as another mastermind of the 1993 WTC bombing and the 9-11 attacks. There is evidence known to the FBI and Chertoff that also shows Khalid Mohammed was behind the planning for the OKC bombing with Terry Nichols. Khalid Mohammed was captured in 2003 in Pakistan. Khalid has since been tortured by the CIA with methods reviewed by Alberto Gonzales and Michael Chertoff at DOJ, according to published statements by US authorities, to extract details of Khalid's role in the 1993 WTC and OKC bombings as well as being the architect for the 9-11 attacks.
Three of the men Salem recruited at the Brooklyn Abu Bakr mosque were allowed by the FBI and US Attorneys to go free and roam the streets. They were Anas and Asad Siddiqy and Mohamed Chafti. They later were seen very close to the OKC bombing in April 1995 with Timothy McVeigh. These three men were arrested on the day of the OKC bombing and then released after intervention by the FBI, DOJ and CIA. The FBI 302 reports of their arrest were kept hidden from the public in the office of FBI OKC bomb task force inspector Danny Defenbaugh until the reports were found and released in early 2001. The witness to the three men in OKC being with McVeigh, Debbie Burdick, was intimidated and coerced by FBI agent Odom to not talk about her eyewitness account during and after OKC bombing federal trials. FBI agent Odom was working with DOJ prosecutors in Denver at the federal trials of McVeigh and Nichols when Odom called Burdick.
It seems that Khalid Mohammed and Ramzi Yousef had kept in contact with the Siddiqys because a letter from Khalid to the Siddiqys was found on Ramzi's computer when confiscated by the FBI and CIA in the Philippines in January 1995. Plans for the OKC bombing and the 9-11 style attacks were also found on the same computer shortly after Khalid and Ramzi had met in the Philippines with the other OKC bombing participant, Terry Nichols.
Former Egyptian army sergeant Ali Mohammed was captured and tried in 1998 for his role in the 1993 WTC and the Tanzanian and Kenyan embassy bombings. Ali Mohammed trained the Middle Eastern recruits of the FBI and Chertoff's provocateu, Emad Salem, in bomb making and planting skills for the 1993 WTC bombing. When finally arrested Ali Mohammed was carrying training manuals on how to build and plant bombs in public buildings. Ali Mohammed has also written training manuals along with Mohammed Atef for bin Laden and AlQaeda.
Ali Mohammed worked for US Special Forces, the CIA and then the FBI all while Ali was close to bin Laden and Dr. Ayman Zawahiri and Khalid Mohammed. In fact with the knowledge of the FBI, Ali Mohammed squired Zawahiri and Khalid around the US and in Oklahoma City in MarchApril 1995 to survey terror targets and set up terror underground networks.
Although convicted, the details of Ali Mohammed's plea bargain and detention arrangements with Attorney General Reno are still secret. Ali Mohammed knows a great deal about US sting operations of the FBI, the CIA and US attorneys.
Chertoff was directly involved in the prosecution of the Moussaoui case and sought to limit the testimony of AlQaeda leaders, bin Alshibh and Khalid Mohammed to such an extent that the federal judge in the case threatened to throw out the case and moved to severely restrict if not kill the government's continuance of the case. Chertoff may have sought to limit the testimony of Khalid Mohammed in the Moussaoui case in part because of torture of Khalid ratified by DOJ attorneys but also because Khalid would be in a position to describe facts pointing to FBI and DOJ foreknowledge information of the 1993 WTC, the OKC and the 9-11 attacks. Chertoff handled the appeal of the DOJ case against Moussaoui in the 4th Circuit court of Appeals now before the Supreme Court. Chertoff with Ashcroft's and now Alberto Gonzales' help may likewise be trying to stifle this type of information from coming out in the Rahman case by the wiretapping and indictment of Lynne Stewart.
Since Chertoff was the US attorney in New Jersey fully aware of FBI monitoring of Rahman's cell with informants and at a mosque in New Jersey, it is entirely possible that even Chertoff would not want incriminating information brought out by Lynne Stewart in Rahman's trial. The complete story of the roles of Chertoff and Fitzgerald and other US Attorneys with Ali Mohammed, Emad Salem, Yasin, the Siddiqys, Chafti, Melvin Lattimore, and others is one that the DOJ, FBI and Chertoff, Ashcroft and now Gonzales do not want exposed in a federal trial of Rahman represented by Lynne Stewart.
Protecting Terror Financiers and Nuclear Arms Traffickers
Dr. Magdy Elamir, a prominent Egyptian neurologist from Jersey City, was sued by New Jersey for skimming over $16 million from an HMO he operated.
According to a June 20, 2000 article in "The Record" of Bergen County, New Jersey, Michael Chertoff was the defense attorney for Dr. Magdy Elamir.
The lawsuit alleged that Dr. Elamir "caused more than $5.7 million to be paid by wire transfers to unknown parties where the beneficial owner of the account is unknown."
An August 2002 Dateline NBC reported that bin Laden funded the HMO owned by Dr Elamir and the money skimmed from the HMO by Dr. Elamir was transferred overseas to fund bin Laden terror activities. The Dateline story was based on intelligence documents furnished by the chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman, R-New York. Dr. Elamir also funded the Jersey City Al Salaam mosque led by Muslim cleric Abdel Rahman and his terror cell who helped carry out the 1993 WTC bombing. Recall that while US attorney for New Jersey from 1990 to 1994 Michael Chertoff knew of the FBI use of Emad Salem as a provocateur associated with the Al Salaam mosque and Abdel Rahman.
After Michael Chertoff took over the DOJ criminal division in June 2001, no DOJ charges were filed against Dr. Magdy Elamir or Mohamed Elamir for their role in trying to buy nuclear weapons for bin Laden in New Jersey. There also was no adequate effort made to apprehend the Pakistani ISI agent Raja Abbas. Because the Diamondback case was handled as a criminal case rather than a counter terrorism case, Chertoff was also in a position to control and limit prosecution and arrests in the Diamondback case so that Magdy Elamir and Mohamed Elamir would not be charged or go to trial.
Dr. Magdy Elamir has not been arrested by the FBI nor charged or prosecuted by the DOJ under Chertoff even though the intelligence documents provided by Congressmen Gilman show that Dr. Elamir funneled millions of dollars from fraudulent HMO and MRI companies to fund terrorist activities for cleric Abdel Rahman in the 1993 bombing and also for bin Laden.
9-11 Drugs, Arms Trafficking and Terror Funding
Attorney General Ashcroft put Chertoff in charge of the entire DOJ investigation of the 9-11 attacks. Chertoff may well have known of the connections of Mohamed Elamir Atta, Mohamed Elamir, and Dr. Magdy Elamir in New Jersey with each other and the 9-11 hijackers, possibly even before the 9-11 attacks.
The New Yorker described Chertoff's role in the 9-11 investigation on November 5, 2001:
"Since the September 11th terrorist attacks, Chertoff's office has become the funnel for what is probably the most important criminal investigation in American history, as prosecutors and F.B.I. investigators pour in to seek the boss's approval. …For day-to-day decisions, Chertoff has the last word…"
Chertoff and the FBI strongly impeded and obstructed the US Customs and Homeland Security operation Greenquest investigating the Saudi, Ptech and other terror money sources for 9-11. The DOJ, Chertoff and FBI were given control of the Ptech investigation and Greenquest based on the agreement signed by Ridge and Ashcroft. To make doubly sure that nothing is done by the backdoor by Homeland Security to reveal the DOJ and FBI sabotage and cover-up of the Ptech investigation and other Saudi backing of terror finances, Chertoff has now been put in place at Homeland Security to replace Tom Ridge.

It also brings to question the hypocrisy of it..Reid would be against the Patriot act and likely Homeland Security..but then squeals when the pork that goes with "what he is against" is taken away. Having said that, I do think that Las Vegas would be a high risk target for attacks. I do not know how they pick the risky cities. I amnot sure losing Wayne Newton is such a bad thing though...

Judiciary Committee Dodges Responsibility Concerning Former Senate Colleague, Fearing Political Consequences of Honest Investigation
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, expressed outrage that the Senate Judiciary Committee and its investigative staff of the Majority and Minority, for being derelict in its duty to conduct a full and complete investigation of Mr. Michael Chertoff, a nominee for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and a previous Senate Whitewater Majority Counsel, who is close to senators on the Judiciary Committee. Judicial Watch provided Committee investigators with a detailed chronology of alleged Justice Department misuse of organized crime operatives by the FBI and other U.S. government agencies in the District of New Jersey (among other northeastern U.S. jurisdictions), while Mr. Chertoff served as the U.S. Attorney. The investigators were also provided with a tape of recorded telephone conversations, transcripts, video and public documents as evidence.
During a two hour meeting with Committee investigators on Thursday, May 29, 2003, Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman, and President Tom Fitton, made a detailed presentation, including audio and video exhibits, with direct evidentiary admissions by an FBI crime operative. Messrs. Klayman and Fitton also presented the staff with a recommended witness list of persons with first-hand knowledge of the alleged crimes. Today's joint press statement from Senators Hatch and Leahy confirms that the Senate Judiciary Committee investigators failed to pursue any of the investigative leads or conduct any meaningful interviews in an effort to unravel the controversy surrounding Mr. Chertoff's actions. Indeed, they merely asked Mr. Chertoff if he is "implicated or not." The investigative staff could not possibly have scratched the surface of the evidence presented to it in merely three working days.

I think the pattern is instructive.
In the first WTC bombing, an agent provocateur was utilized to recruit those with a predisposition to commit a profoudly evil act against the US government. The skids were greased to the greatest extent possible to enable them to pull it off.
If the same tactic was used in the OKC bombing, Nichols and McVeigh would simply be of the belief that they pulled off the bombing as they had intended, without a clear understanding of how they managed to get away with it.
Now looking at 9/11, clearly Mossad played the role of agents provocateur (X 200 so-called "Art Students") who mirrored the activities of the would-be hijackers as they went to flight school and prepared to carry out their mission against the US Government.
The pattern is clear. Somebody within the US Government (or those who control the policies and the Defense Department of the US Government) wants these attacks to occur. WASHINGTON — In the minutes after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, while Attorney General John Ashcroft was rushing back from Milwaukee, Michael Chertoff was calling the shots.
Chertoff, then chief of the Justice Department's criminal division, breached the prickly territorial lines that have long divided the Justice Department from the FBI. From a fifth-floor office at FBI headquarters, above the streams of panicked people who flooded Pennsylvania Avenue, he set up shop in the bureau's crisis center. For the next 20 hours, he directed the government's initial response to the most lethal terrorist attack in U.S. history.
Chertoff would spend the next two years serving as a central figure in formulating U.S. anti-terrorism policy — from the effort to secretly detain hundreds of Middle Easterners in the USA, to increasing the FBI's authority to conduct domestic surveillance at religious gatherings and other public events.
Civil rights advocates say Chertoff's record raises serious questions about his fitness for the job. Gregory Nojeim, associate director of the ACLU's Washington legislative office, said Chertoff's tenure at Justice is the most troubling. Chertoff was one of the architects of the USA Patriot Act, which provided law enforcement broader surveillance authority.

But the March 2005 issue of Popular Mechanics (PM) plumbs new depths of nepotism and Hearst-style "yellow journalism" with its cover story about 9/11. PM's senior researcher, 25-year-old Benjamin Chertoff, authored a propagandistic cover story entitled "Debunking 9/11 Lies" which seeks to discredit all independent 9/11 research that challenges the official version of events.
Benjamin's mother in Pelham, New York, however, was more willing to talk. Asked if Benjamin was related to the new Secretary of Homeland Security, Judy said, "Yes, of course, he is a cousin."

The Assistant Attorney General in charge of criminal investigations at the time was Michael Chertoff, the current head of the Dept. of Homeland Security. Chertoff, the son of the first hostess of Israel's national air carrier, El Al, is thought to be an Israeli national.
One of the Israeli agents later told Israeli radio that they had been sent to "document the event" - the event which took the lives of some 3,000 Americans.

Although the company's registered address is listed as 8 Baker Street, they operate, however, from an office on the first Floor of Tavistock House South. Given that both companies provide 'transportation security' services, operate from the same floor of the same office complex, and given that both are owned and run by Israelis, only a hardened 'coincidence theorist' would deny that there is evidence indicating tangible links between the two. As Christopher Bollyn points out, these companies merit being investigated because "they provide 'security technology' for the tube lines that were bombed." Bollyn also points out that these Israeli companies perfect their 'security' skills in Israel and Iraq and then apply them in Britain and the USA.

In recent years, however, Magal evolved into a publicly-traded company, although IAI (and thus the government of Israel) still holds a substantial share in the highly successful firm.
What all of this means is that the government of Israel will actually have control over the Security of America’s nuclear weapons.

A counterintelligence investigation by the FBI concluded that at least two of them were in fact Mossad operatives, according to the former American official, who said he was regularly briefed on the investigation by two separate law enforcement officials.
"The assessment was that Urban Moving Systems was a front for the Mossad and operatives employed by it," he said. "The conclusion of the FBI was that they were spying on local Arabs but that they could leave because they did not know anything about 9/11."
However, he added, the bureau was "very irritated because it was a case of so-called unilateral espionage, meaning they didn't know about it."
Spokesmen for the FBI, the Justice Department and the Immigration and Naturalization Service refused to discuss the case. Israeli officials flatly dismissed the allegations as untrue.
However, the former American official said that after American authorities confronted Jerusalem on the issue at the end of last year, the Israeli government acknowledged the operation and apologized for not coordinating it with Washington.
The five men -- Sivan and Paul Kurzberg, Oded Ellner, Omer Marmari and Yaron Shmuel -- were arrested eight hours after the attacks by the Bergen County, N.J., police while driving in an Urban Moving Systems van.
‘A Scary Situation' Steven Gordon, the attorney for the five Israeli detainees, acknowledged that his clients' actions on Sept. 11 would easily have aroused suspicions. "You got a group of guys that are taking pictures, on top of a roof, of the World Trade Center. They're speaking in a foreign language. They got two passports on 'em. One's got a wad of cash on him, and they got box cutters. Now that's a scary situation."

Since their arrest, plenty of speculation has swirled about the case, and what the five men were doing that morning. Eventually, The Forward, a respected Jewish newspaper in New York, reported the FBI concluded that two of the men were Israeli intelligence operatives.
Vince Cannistraro, a former chief of operations for counterterrorism with the CIA who is now a consultant for ABCNEWS, said federal authorities' interest in the case was heightened when some of the men's names were found in a search of a national intelligence database.
Israeli Intelligence Connection?
According to Cannistraro, many people in the U.S. intelligence community believed that some of the men arrested were working for Israeli intelligence. Cannistraro said there was speculation as to whether Urban Moving had been "set up or exploited for the purpose of launching an intelligence operation against radical Islamists in the area, particularly in the New Jersey-New York area."
According to ABC's 20/20, when the van belonging to the cheering Israelis was stopped by the police, the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers:
"We are Israelis. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are your problem."
The police and FBI field agents became very suspicious when they found maps of the city with certain places highlighted, box cutters (the same items that the hijackers supposedly used), $4700 cash stuffed in a sock, and foreign passports. Police also told the Bergen Record that bomb sniffing dogs were brought to the van and that they reacted as if they had smelled explosives.
The FBI seized and developed their photos, one of which shows Sivan Kurzberg flicking a cigarette lighter in front of the smouldering ruins in an apparently celebratory gesture.
The Jerusalem Post later reported that a white van with a bomb was stopped as it approached the George Washington Bridge, but the ethnicity of the suspects was not revealed. Here's what the Jerusalem Post reported on September 12, 2001:
American security services overnight stopped a car bomb on the George Washington Bridge. The van, packed with explosives, was stopped on an approach ramp to the bridge. Authorities suspect the terrorists intended to blow up the main crossing between New Jersey and New York, Army Radio reported.
TCM Breaking News reported that the van was laden down with tonnes of explosives (13).
What's really intriguing is that ABC's 20/20, the New York Post, and the New Jersey Bergen Record all clearly and unambiguously reported that a white van with Israelis was intercepted on a ramp near Route 3, which leads directly to the Lincoln Tunnel.
But the Jerusalem Post, Israeli National News (Arutz Sheva), and Yediot America, all reported, just as clearly and unambiguously, that a white van with Israelis was stopped on a ramp leading to the George Washington Bridge, which is several miles north of the Lincoln Tunnel.
It appears as if there may actually have been two white vans involved, one stopped on each crossing. This would not only explain the conflicting reports as to the actual location of the arrests, but would also explain how so many credible eye-witnesses all saw celebrating "middle-easterners" in a white van in so many different locations. It also explains why the New York Post and Steve Gordon (lawyer for the 5 Israelis) originally described how three Israelis were arrested but later increased the total to five.
From there, the story gets becomes even more suspicious. The Israelis worked for a Weehawken moving company known as Urban Moving Systems. An American employee of Urban Moving Systems told the The Record of New Jersey that a majority of his co-workers were Israelis and they were joking about the attacks.
The employee, who declined to give his name said: "I was in tears. These guys were joking and that bothered me. These guys were like, "Now America knows what we go through."
A few days after the attacks, Urban Moving System's Israeli owner, Dominick Suter, dropped his business and fled the country for Israel. He was in such a hurry to flee America that some of Urban Moving System's customers were left with their furniture stranded in storage facilities.
It was later confirmed that the five detained Israelis were in fact Mossad agents. They were held in custody for 71 days before being quietly released. Some of the movers had been kept in solitary confinement for 40 days.
Several of the detainees discussed their experience in America on an Israeli talk show after their return home.
Said one of the men, denying that they were laughing or happy on the morning of Sept. 11, "The fact of the matter is we are coming from a country that experiences terror daily. Our purpose was to document the event."
How did they know there would be an event to document on 9/11?

FBI investigations into possible links to the September 11 attacks are usually carried by the bureau's counterterrorism division, not its counterintelligence division.
"An FCI means not only that it was serious but also that it was handled at a very high level and very tightly," the former official said. That view was echoed by several former FBI officials interviewed.
According to ABCNEWS sources, Israeli and U.S. government officials worked out a deal -- and after 71 days, the five Israelis were taken out of jail, put on a plane, and deported back home.
The men all underwent at least two polygraph tests each, the lawyer added. He said one of the Israelis took the test seven times, a very unusual total according to several polygraph experts interviewed by the Forward. All failed their tests.

While Lay is on the stand and under oath, wouldn't it be great fun to ask him all about his meetings with George Bush Sr. and Dick Cheney prior to 9/11?
Wouldn't it be great to ask him if the faux California Energy Crisis which his company manufactured just prior to the 2000 elections was actually a scheme cooked up by he and Poppie Bush to compel Americans to install some oil experts in the White House? Such a plan would by necessity be a war plan, and this war plan was actually in place prior to 9/11.
Surely any good war plan requires at its core a starting point, a trigger if you will that provides a good "cover story" to implement it. Clearly you can't just go around invading countries without a good reason...you need to be attacked first, then retaliate.

As a result of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq, the living situation for the Iraqi people have deteriorated to a level far worse than at any time before the war. The fabric of Iraqi society have been shredded, and the war shattered all hope that Iraq would advance on paths to "freedom' and "democracy". Why, and who is the beneficiary of this act of aggression?
After the 9/11 attacks, the world expressed support and condolences for the US and the people of the US. The French daily Le Monde headline was; "We are all Americans now". On September 12, 2001, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked what the attacks would mean for US-Israeli relations. His quick reply was: "It's very good," he said. "Well, it's not good, but it will generate immediate sympathy [for Israel]"[1]. The 9/11 attacks on the US proved to be the 'great joys' for Israel, the only country on the planet to express a kind of "Schadenfreude".
Accusations were levelled on all Muslims, particularly Arab Muslims, as if Ariel Sharon and his gang represent everything Jewish. Enemies of Muslims in the West and in the US are not difficult to come by. There are all sorts of Islamophobic psychopaths ready to unleash their fire on Muslims. Israelis and Israeli sympathisers, including the majority of US policy makers and US mainstream media, saw 9/11 as an "opportunity" to be used for unending war.
With the 9/11 attacks, the so-called 'neoconservatives', a euphemism for new breed of crypto-fascists, who were the architects of the US war on Iraq, saw their dream come true. The group forms a cult of pro-Israel "sympathisers"; including Paul Wolfowitz, deputy defence secretary, Douglas Feith undersecretary for policy, and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Dick Cheney, chief of staff and national security adviser. On the White House National Security Council staff, there were former Iran-contra figure Elliott Abrams and Robert Joseph were dealing with the Middle East and arms proliferation, respectively. Mr Wolfowitz in particular was described as 'over
the-top-crazy when it comes to Israel' and 'Israel-centric', cited by former CIA analysts, Kathleen and Bill Christison.
In their 1996 policy paper "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm" presented to the then-Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, and David Wurmser argued that Israel ('the Realm") had no choice go on the offensive attacks against Arab nations, including, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. Iraq, the only serious challenge to Israel, have to be destroyed first in order to secure a stranglehold over Syria, which is depicted as the main danger to the Jewish state.
Rumsfeld's Defence Policy Board (DPB) was dominated by neocons, notably its former chairman, Richard Perle, former CIA chief James Woolsey, former
arms-control negotiator Kenneth Adelman and military historian Eliot Cohen. Immediately after the 9/11 attacks they pushed for war in the Middle East starting with the war Iraq.
Karen Kwiatkowski, a retired USAF Lt. Col., who was working at the Pentagon wrote; "What seemed out of place was the strong and open pro-Israel and anti-Arab orientation in an ostensibly apolitical policy-generation staff within the Pentagon". She adds, "By August [2002], I was morally and intellectually frustrated by my powerlessness against what increasingly appeared to be a philosophical hijacking of the Pentagon" [2]. The US powerhouse was taken hostages by a cult whose members proved to be less loyal to their own country than to a foreign power.
Patrick J. Buchanan, a conservative commentator and chairman of The American Cause, wrote; "On Sept. 20, forty neoconservatives sent an open letter of ultimatum to the White House instructing President Bush on how the war on terror must be conducted. To retain the signers' support, the president was told, he must target Hezbollah [the Lebanese Resistance movement] for destruction, retaliate against Syria and Iran if they refuse to sever ties to Hezbollah, and overthrow Saddam. Any failure to attack Iraq, the signers warned Bush, 'will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism'" [3]. We know now none of those had anything to do with 9/11.
Well connected to the centre of power and cleverly using the 'anti-Semitism' cliché to intimidate and bully any fair criticism of themselves or Israel, they had no problem to get their war on Iraq. The Pro-Israel cult in the Bush administration fabricated the first Iraq link to 9/11 in order to manipulate public opinion (American) and demonise not only the Iraqi people, but also the entire Arab nation. The second fabricated story fabricated by the cult was the story of Iraq's weapon of mass destruction (WMD).
Pretext after pretext have collapsed. Iraq was found to be a defenceless nation, and had no link to the 9/11 attacks or terrorism. Even George Bush admitted after the war that the link never existed. We know now that the WMD story was a lie. Paul Wolfowitz, the most warmonger of the Bush administration, told the July, 2003 issue of Vanity Fair magazine that he promoted the false pretext for "bureaucratic reason" and to create a "consensus" to go to war. In other words, the pretexts for the war were
concocted to make a case for an act of aggression. Mr. Wolfowitz new job is the "humanitarian" CEO of the World Bank, which required an "honest" and "decent" man.
Iraq had never pose a threat to the US. The nation was simply trying to survive 13-years genocidal sanctions. In the sunlight, the reasons for the war on Iraq become more obvious: (1) support for Israel's terror against the Palestinian people, (2) support for Israel's expansionism, and (3) enhance America's corporate interests and control over Middle East vital energy resources.
As a result of the war, the Iraq was destroyed as a state. Iraq's infrastructure and vital human services were destroyed and still in ruin. The Iraqi people are the most oppressed and most abused people on the planet today. Thousands of Iraqis have been imprisoned, abused and tortured by Occupation forces. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed and many more have been wounded.
A report in the credible British journal, The Lancet, on November 2004, shows that from March 2003 to October 2004, the US armed forces and its mercenaries have killed more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians; over half of them were women and children. The estimate is very conservative in that it excluded the high civilians death in Fallujah, and the complete destruction of a once vibrant city of 300,000 people. Other major Iraqi cities and towns are experiencing similar destruction and atrocities.
Israel appears to be the chief beneficiary of this war: Iraq was the only challenge to Israel's terror in the Middle East, and Iraq was a major supporter of the Palestinian right to self-determination and liberation from Israel's colonial Occupation. The Israeli Government used the war as a cover up for its increased crimes against the Palestinian people, and depicted any criticism of Israel's terror as "anti-Semitism". In the shadow of the Iraq war, Israel was able to build its Apartheid Wall, confiscate more Palestinian land and resources, and continues killing Palestinians with impunity never seen before. The war allows Israel to perfect its espionage networks in the US to spy on the US itself. In addition to massive military aid paid by US taxpayers to prop Israeli colonial army, Israel benefited from increase in its arms sale to the US war machine and to other places such as China. The Iraq war was a bonanza for the Sharon Government.
It should be noted that, for years, American taxpayer money has funded Palestine Occupation--the torture chambers, the military apparatus, the bulldozers used in house demolitions, the building of settlements and now the construction of the West Bank Apartheid Wall, declared illegal [4] by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In Iraq, Israeli Mossad agents were implicated in the assassination of thousands of Iraqi scientists and prominent Iraqi citizens and politicians to deprive Iraq from its human and knowledge resources. Iraqis rightly believe that Israeli agents involved in the destruction and looting of Iraq's cultural heritage. Israel was able to enlist the Kurds in North Iraq as its major allies for its espionage and interference in Iran affairs.
The cost to the US is that many US soldiers have been killed and many more have been wounded. The war is also contributing to the speedy decline of US power - bulging trade and budget deficits due to higher oil prices and rocketed war spending -, and US "moral prestige" in the world. The US has never been so isolated from the rest of the civilised world. Like Israel, the majority of the world public considers the US a "threat to world peace". The Iraqi people did not welcome the occupation of their land and have rejected the US forms of "freedom" and "democracy". An entire nation was taken hostage by an armed foreign power on behalf of other foreign power. Contrary to pro-Israel Zionists and anti-Arabs pundits' assumptions, the Iraqi people Resistance proved to be an effective force, and may have thwarted US military attacks against Syrian and Iran.
Undeterred by their failed strategy in Iraq and their deception of the American people, the pro-Israel cult in the Bush administration and their allies in the Israeli Government are pushing the US for more wars (against Syria and Iran) that are not in US interest. It is clear now that, 'what is good for Israel is [not] good for America' and Americans.
There is little doubt that the current US Government and its ideologues will continue to inflict harms not only on defenceless people outside the US, but also on the US and on the Americans people for the next few decades. The challenge is not whether the US will decline as an imperial power but whether the American people can prevent their country from becoming a permanent hostage of a foreign power and slow its decline.

1. Keep letters to Congress short. They are read by 21 yr old interns who have ADD and are interested primarily in sleeping with one another. They really have little time for long missives. Their bosses don't want to be involved in controvesy, so as long as the interns put out, they pretty much decide what the congressperson does or doesn't do.
