19 Mar 2003
Modified: 08:43:16 PM
supposedly 36 people arrested outside of the boston stock exchange protesting the war on iraq. no more details available yet
I just got a call that 36 people were just arrested outside of the Boston Stock Exchange for protesting the war on Iraq. (Wednesday March 19, about 6 pm EST) I have no real details, and I'm very sorry if this turns out to be false (which I doubt, but its a possiblity)

I thought you here would like the update, and hopefully someone can post more info or links in the comments section, just getting the ball rolling

update on civil disobedience at jfk (english)
19 Mar 2003
Alright! Here are some details on today's action of civil disobedience. An affinity group of around 10 people blockaded the stock exchange earlier today and were arrested, processed within a couple hours and released. It was non-violent, peaceful and extremely successful, the members of the affinity group released statements that the police treated them respectfully. Government Center at the JFK federal building, several local affinity groups gathered in protest of the war. People were protesting with pictures of iraqi families and children, people standing with the same pictures around their neck lining the streets. After the logistics were figured out, specific people resisting arrest within the affinity groups broke up into their designated groups and each of them went to the various entrances of the building. After struggling with problems trying to get past the police and their barricades at the front entrance, several people jumped barricades and ran past the police. After several minutes, many were split up and taken away to be arrested at various districts, from east boston to south boston. Still possibly being processed right now, it was taking much longer for the 41 people at the JFK building to be released than the stock exchange participants. Overall, an incredibly successful day of civil disobedience. And the anti-movement in Boston continues to voice resistance! Keep the peace! The time is now! hit the streets! let everyone in the world hear your opposition!!!
