2,000 Rally and March in Boston (english)
22 Mar 2003
Modified: 23 Mar 2003
Last minute rally draws thousands
Saturday, March 22, 2003

A last minute call gathered an estimated 2,000 people at Boston Common today who marched to Copley square and eventually to Harvard Square in Cambridge to protest military action against Iraq. The low number was attributed to the fact that many local peace activists were in New York and Washington DC today for previously planned activities. More than 50,000 are expected for a planned rally next weekend.
A counter demonstration of about 15 people also gathered at Boston Common and accompanied the protesters for the length of the march. Their number was never more than 20 throughout the day.
