Human Shields (the media's slant) (english)

The Human Shield Idea
I have been watching the news and I keep seeing all these talking heads ramble on about Iraqi atrocities. The major one of these is the use of human shields. In one report the news anchor said (in a tone of subtle disbelief that Iraqis were doing this) that he was shocked Iraqi troops were stationed actually in the cities and around civilians...

Well I was confused by this...

You see...if an invading army is attacking your cities wouldn't you defend the cities by placing troops IN the cities? This is not creating human shields. This is Iraqi troops following orders to protect their urban areas.

Now I'm not defending any brutal action taken during war (as I support none of it) All I'm saying is take the news reports with as much skepticism as you can because it's very obvious that the media will turn any Iraqi battle plan into a war crime.

Please Don't Feed the Trolls

Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "An Internet troll is either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." Boston IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.

Yes. The news (TV news especially) loves to take a situation and find a way to state it that distorts it, just like this.

Another question is - Who is the world's biggest stockpiler and user of weapons of mass destruction? Of course, the answer is the U.S. How many gallons of Agent Orange did the US drop on Vietnam? 17 million. What's the only country to ever drop a nuclear bomb on humans? the U.S.
