Yeah, what's up? (english)
26 Mar 2003
Maybe they've been selectively not carried or super-slowed by the major U.S. internet backbone providers. I don't know what's up with that. Is there a mirror or anything for aljazeera? I've been accessing it alright for several days and now it's gone. I wouldn't put it past the backbone providers to censor it on request of the Pentagon.

and

get them before the Pentagon finds out about them.

It has been "hacked" - those are not it (english)
26 Mar 2003
Those links are not al-jazeera, the Arab news giant.
Their website has suffered a denial of service (DOS) attack. I wonder who the heck did that? If it comes out a US govt agency is behind it or the Pentagon we should raise heck because that's pure f---- censorship. Orwell 2003.

Al Jazeera Hacked

The Web site for Al Jazeera, the Arab news agency based in Qatar, was inaccessible yesterday after a hacker attack. The news agency had just launched an English version (english.aljazeera.net) of its site. "The newly launched English-language page ... was hardest hit in a bombardment of data packets known as a denial-of-service attack. Ayman Arrashid, Internet system administrator at the Horizons Media & Information Services, the site's Web host, said the attack began Tuesday morning local time," Dow Jones Newswires reported. An Al Jazeera editor, however, denied that hackers brought the site down. "Nabil Hegazi, assistant to the managing editor of the English Web site, denied that an attack was the reason the site was unavailable. He said it was difficult to access because of traffic that was almost four times more than expected," the AP said.
