I. Before Oil: The Crisis of Neoliberal Capitalism

Profits collapse, anti-globalization movements, neoliberal rigidity produce crisis for the neoliberal regime of capital accumulation that replaced Keynesianism

II. War as Bush Regime Response to Crisis

Oil is fundemental to capital, but there are problems in many OPEC nations; imposition of neoliberalism requires force; US doctrine now prohibits any nation to have high-tech industry not under US-approved government or multinational corporate control; all reasons for war, starting with Iraq, but suggesting many wars to come.

III. War Against the U.S. Working Class

War vs. other nations is complemented by war on the US working class: material well-being (housing, medical care, retirement, etc.); rights (rights to unionize, civil rights, legal rights); women's rights; racial equity; immigrants rights; environment.

IV. Anti-War Strategy in Context of Neoliberal Crisis

The anti-war movement has rapidly become massive: who is this movement? Why is it massive? How is it developing? War on Iraq is one battle in a long war, longterm process; the anti-war movement must understand this and strategize accordingly, building on anti-war and anti-globalization. Combine slogan of anti-globalization movement -- "Another World is Possible" -- with that of anti-war movement -- "No Blood for Oil". The political arithmetic gives us: "Another World is Necessary."

V. Unfolding Events May of Course Change the Focus of This Talk
