Hundreds of hungry people could lose a vital source of food |
April, 2003 – Food Not Bombs, a radical organization that for over 10 years has provided direct aid in the form of vegetarian meals and friendly community throughout the city, is now at risk of collapsing due to loss of space. In early April, the organization received a notice of eviction from the house where its food is stored and frequently prepared.
At least hundreds of homeless and low-income people benefit weekly from the six meals Food Not Bombs provides in Copley Square, the Boston Commons, Cambridge and Jamaica Plain. Food Not Bombs is one of the largest providers of free food in the Boston area. It is also a working demonstration of the possibility of mutual aid and free vegetarian food while it exposes the wastefulness of capitalism. Without a storage space and a kitchen it might not be able to continue.
Food Not Bombs is desperately seeking the space necessary to keep its meals running. Call (617) 787-3436 with any ideas or help. |

Please Don't Feed the Trolls
Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "An Internet troll is either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." Boston IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.
