Wachusett Update 7/16 (english)

Wachusett Update 7/16/03

The results of last nights Conservation Commission (CC) meeting are as follows.

The D.E.M. said that NO CUTTING can begin until after August 15th. This gives us at least a month until on-the-ground action will have to take place. There is still the chance that a qualified person can file an appeal to the CC regarding cutting. This would possibly delay cutting for 70 days.

I received an e-mail from a guy named Glen who seems very interested in supporting this struggle. He mentioned to me the idea of pulling together a walk/march from the state house to the Mountains summit. I am very busy pulling this end of things, but people who are interested in helping him organize this potentially big event are encouraged to contact him at- falloutboy (at) riseup.net

Remember that the ski area operators also own the Polar/Adirondack Beverage Company, and the Wachusett Village Inn. We should be boycotting the Inn and the Beverages (although I donít know why one would drink that stuff anyways). Pass the word on this boycott; make stickers or flyers informing the public to the evils of these destructive companies.

At some point it might be a good idea to pull as many people as we can together to meet and get some ideas on the table (keeping in mind our security culture of coarse). This will need to happen really soon.

For people who might be coming in from out of town, we have been given a place to camp. It is on land owned by a strong supporter of the struggle. Food and shelter have yet to be addresses. Perhaps that is another thing to discuss at a meeting.

I am trying to get a phone number so people can contact me, for now I will be monitoring my e-mail regularly (2-3 times daily). If you need information regarding the history of the issue, the players in the game, or anything else for that matter, please contact me through e-mail- takeaction2001 (at) hotmail.com
