Festival like? (english)
11 Aug 2003
Hello all,

it is about time we start talking about the DNC. some people may have already seen around Boston the "Make A Mess - DNC '04" grafitti messages, i think some people are heading up that campaign. I think the general theme of the protest should be an anti-capitalist festival. Being brite, beautiful, colorful, and everything create will shout a big "fuck you! you dont represent us!" to the people in the convention. of course a diverse array of tactics should be supported and embraced, but hardly talked about on a newswire. we've got a whole year to do this so it could really be something.

what do people think?

diversity is good (english)

diversity of tacTICS that is. there is already serious organizing going on around the dnc (and rnc) in boston, and several community orgs have created forums for discussion and coordination. one of the major concerns in some communities is that people (esp anarcho types) don't get all fired up with some brilliant plan at the last minute and do a crazy action in someone else's neighborhood, getting the cops in a frenzy, wrecking a neighborhood, etc. so please plan whatever you like, but make sure you are accountable to the communities you are planning in. the best way is with advance and honest communication. an ongoing dialogue doesn't have to compromise security or ideals, and is in everyone's best interest. not doing so is being undemocratic, and makes the job of the disruptors and discreditors easier. this is a HUGE deal, so let's not treat each others' work lightly. thanks to everyone contributing to the dnc actions- we're going to show them some people power they haven't seen in a little while...
