Harvard Rally Against the Occupation - Oct 21st Noon (english)
16 Oct 2003
Modified: 04:17:50 PM
join Harvard Initiative for Peace & Justice to protest the continued occupation of Iraq
What do you think?

$87 Billion dollars for an unjust war?
http://www.tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/8857

while our nation is plunged into $400 Billion in debt? and Bush is blaming the trade deficit with China for his kleptomaniac policies?
http://www.commondreams.org/views03/1015-09.htm

while Halliburton and Bechtel rake in hundreds of millions, screwing the US taxpayer with cost-plus no-bid contracts?
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/1015-07.htm

while people are summarily arrested, stipped of all rights, and dragged to Camp Delta, where they are held without being charged, without right to representation, and incommunicado? and they have built a DEATH CHAMBER there? what is this madness?

it is fascism!

if you feel ANYTHING about these issues, not to mention the Bush administration attacks on the environment, on our civil rights, on women's right to choose, on the imposition of their fundamentalist beliefs on the rest of us....THEN COME OUT AND JOIN THE RALLY!

Tuesday Oct 21st, 12 noon, Science Center Entrance, Harvard University

ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT (english)
16 Oct 2003
Just found the original announcement for this event:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

END THE OCCUPATION! NO TO EMPIRE! DEFEND CIVIL RIGHTS & LIBERTIES!
RALLY TUESDAY, Oct 21, 12 pm -- Science Center

Calling for:
============

* U.S. out of Iraq! Bring our Troops Home NOW!

General elections should be held in Iraq ASAP. Contracts granting
U.S. corporations control over Iraqi oil and resources should be
rescinded -- they were not made under the democratic authority of
the Iraqi people and are illegitimate; instead, resources should be
nationalized under the control of the Iraqi people. The U.S.
should pay reparations to help rebuild Iraq.

Support the right of Iraqis to control their own future! Stop the
corporate plunder of Iraq!

* Money for Jobs, Education, and Healthcare -- not War and Occupation!

* Defend Civil Rights and Liberties! No to PATRIOT Act and racial
profiling!

* Stop attacks on Immigrants, Arabs and Muslims!

* Make Harvard a Patriot Act Free Zone!

Because:
========

* The US continues to subjugate the people of Iraq.
* The US has cancelled elections.
* Inflated Contracts are being handed out to favored US corporations.
* The US is promoting radical economic policies to sell Iraqi
infrastructure to multinationals.
* In the chaos in Iraq, 1000 civilians are killed every week. US
soldiers regularly shoot and imprison innocent civilians.
* The US refuses to hand control to the UN, because it would like
to establish a puppet government in Iraq.
* Domestically, the attack on immigrants and civil rights continues.

Attract attention to these tragic events. Rally next Tuesday!
