Shays' Rebellion Lives!
16 Jan 2001
Can't do DC Saturday? Join the Shaysite rabble and march on the Springfield Federal Building as in days of yore!
The Return of Shays Rebellion to the very spot where the Shaysites confronted anti-democratic forces of oppression on January 25, 1787 will take place Saturday, January 20, 2001 in Springfield, MA in
recognition of the recent assaults on democracy during the US presidential elections and elswhere. Those who wish to march with, and be one of the Shaysites should gather in front of the Springfield Technology Park on State
Street (one block from Springfield Technical Community College and almost across from Burger King) at 1:30pm. There is parking around the corner on Armory Square. Please wear 18th Century attire (we have some hats, but extra
stocking caps are advised; you can pull knee socks up over baggy pant legs and wear a plain old coat, loose-knit sweater or tunic).

The March will leave at 1:45, heading downhill to Main Street and on to the Federal Building at 1550 Main for the demonstration and speak-out at 2pm.Those unable or unwilling to march will have assembled in the plaza in front of the Federal Building. Bring placcards and banners expressing your outrage at the recent theft of the presidential election and ongoing threats to democracy.

For more information about the march only, contact:
