I have been managing a small 'repository website' called "Protest News" for
nearly two years, and in that time I have seen gatherings of hundreds of
thousands of people angry about the Iraq war demonstrating all over the
world from New York City, to Washington DC, to London, to Baghdad.
These demonstrations have been given short-shrift [if anything at all] by
the corporate media.

500,000 people in NY City marched through the streets during the Republican
National Convention in 2004 and were given hardly one second of National news
coverage, essentially muffling all of their voices.

Recently, though, there is a very disturbing emergence of infiltration by police
and government agents into the anti-war organizations, designed to cause
distrust and turmoil within; as well as, identifying and labeling activists as
terrorists.

If there is someone in your organization who pushes hard to have a demonstration
that the city will only allow to be held 8 blocks from the intended site, you have most
likely been infiltrated, and most assuredly you will be ignored and in-effectual as
hundreds of thousands - even millions around the world - have been in the past
several years.

How this government, with the evidence that is slowly being revealed about
its complicity in the 9/11 attacks, can find loyal servants to invade and quash
the anti-war movement is truly mind-boggling. But it IS happening!

I have been searching out every word of protests and demonstrations
in this country and abroad and collecting well over a thousand reports (on
alternate news sites such as the Indy Media Center Network and also with
the help of Google News Alerts) and I believe that the anti-war movement has been
completely nullified by infiltration, and a nearly complete blockade by the
corporate news giants.

There have been promising demonstrations at the offices and even the homes
of government officials (especially in the DC area) that are raising the hairs on
the back of the necks of the neo-cons. But sadly, they are still not producing
any meaningful change in our elected officials.

So where do we go from here?

It seems useless to stand in a fenced-off area to get a message to a government
official who is a mile away! It looks to be time to forget about changing the minds of
these hardened neo-cons. This is not to say that it is because of a lack of will by
the citizens. Try to imagine how difficult it would be to get 500,000 people
away from their cable remotes and their video games. It is about the neo-cons
and the corporate media's ability to negate truth and diminish the "will of the people".

Perhaps it is time to start presenting the facts - about the illegal pre-emptive war
in Iraq; the massive profits from this illegal pre-emptive war; the illegal use of
horrific uranium (nuclear) weapons; and the misleading tactics (lies) used to push
for the illegal pre-emptive invasion in Iraq - to your neighbors and townspeople.

Don't wait till Cheney or Bush comes to your town to organize a demonstration
that would surely be seen as lame, since the corporate media will totally ignore it.
Maybe start organizing events to wake your neighbors up to the facts that have
been with-held from them for years.....the old "soap box" thing.....to try to get
these politicians voted out.

The bad part of that idea, I realize, is that the neo-cons are in control of the voting
machines, and it may not even be possible now.....but we really must try.
