NIGHTMARE WITH WORKMAN'S COMP! |
|
Friday morning, 1:00 a.m., I broke my right wrist at work. (Shattered in three places. I'm right handed.)MY NIGHTMARE HAD STARTED!...
I thought the hospital would fix my wrist right away. I was wrong. The E.R. doctor gave me a temporary cast. Drew some blood, for pre-op. Told me I'd have surgery by Monday. Got sent home with a broken wrist.
Saturday went to the specialist. Was told surgery would be on Thursday.
Got pre-op blood test(again...) and physical on Tuesday.
Wednesday evening the specialist called. Told me workman's comp did not approve the operation. And the operation wouldn't be until next week!
I've called workman's comp, Department of Industrial Accidents, Union lawyer, Company personnel woman and specialist office. All gave me crap advice.
What this boils down to?...If you're really injured? YOU ARE SCREWED!
The company wants you back to work ASAP...How can anyone get back to work ASAP?...When the injured can't get immediate attention?
On top of this ordeal? Workman's comp holds back one weeks pay! On top of paying 60% of my wages. Lucky me...
Moral of this story is?
Go home, if injured. Say it happened outside of work. Your insurance will pay the bill...Short term disability pays more than Comp...And you'll be back to work a hell of a lot sooner!
Me? Lawyer may be my best bet. This broken wrist hurts like hell! |
