Boston CASA/CLAC Schedule of Events

On Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th, members of the Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) in Montreal, and the Summit of the Americas Welcoming Committee (CASA) in Quebec City, will be making a Boston stop on their anti-FTAA caravan tour of the Northeast in anticipation of the upcoming Summit of the Americas meeting in Quebec City this April 2001.
On Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th, members of the Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) in Montreal, and the Summit of the Americas Welcoming Committee (CASA) in Quebec City, will be making a Boston stop on their anti-FTAA caravan tour of the Northeast in anticipation of the upcoming Summit of the Americas meeting in Quebec City this April 2001.

The caravan, in collaboration with local groups, will be presenting workshops and presentations on the FTAA, the Summit of the Americas, as well the broader context of capitalist globalization. CASA and CLAC are anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian groups in Quebec actively organizing against next April's Summit.

Caravan participants include: Helene Vallieres, a member of the Summit of the Americas Welcoming Committee (CASA) in Quebec City, as well as a local organizer, and student at Laval University; Sarita Ahooja, a member of the
Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) in Montreal, as well as a member of several Latin American solidarity groups. Sarita has worked extensively in Guatemala and Mexico. Jaggi Singh, a member of the CLAC, as well as the Colours of Resistance network, also a writer and activist, who's been involved in the mobilizations against APEC in Vancouver, as well as against the OAS in Windsor. .

Friday, February 16th: Workshops: Basics of FTAA and the Summit of the Americas; & Anti-Racism and the Colors of Resistance. 12 noon at Harvard Divinity School, Andover Hall, 45 Francis Ave, room A. [Harvard Sq. stop Red Line]

Friday, February 16th: Campus-wide Teach-In at Tufts University, 5pm, room TBA. [Davis Sq stop Red Line, walk up College Ave.]

Saturday, February 17th: Anti-FTAA Community Meeting at the Community Church of Boston, 565 Boylston St., Copley Square, Boston. 12 noon. [Copley Sq. stop Green Line]

Saturday, February 17th: Gender and Globalization Panel with food & reception. 7pm at the Lucy Parsons Center Bookstore, 549 Columbus Ave., in the South End, Boston [take #1 Bus to corner of Mass Ave. & Columbus Ave.,
or Mass Ave stop on the Orange Line. walk 1.5 blocks up Columbus going east (towards posh end), LPC is on the left]
