Call for Solidarity with Boston Union Picket
09 Jan 2004
This is a call to all anarchists, radicals, workers, students, teachers, union members, and the entire community of Boston to come out in a show of working class solidarity with those on the picket line at the State of the City address.
Here in the city of Boston, all of the public service unions, including firefighters, teachers and major service employees, are operating without a contract. Despite lengthy negotiations, city officials are unwilling to grant even a minimal pay increase. This in a time when rent and living expense are facing records highs. For the members of these unions, they have been verbal taunted by the mayor Thomas Menino and accused of trying to "hold him hostage." Even with the coming Democratic National Convention (July 2004), the mayor is unwilling to assist those who make the city function day-in and day-out. With both sides claiming that talks have gone nowhere, the mayor responded to a threat of a picket outside the annual State of the City address with a 'bring it on' challenge. The unions have not backed down, and are calling for a massive demonstration outside of John Hancock Hall (180 Berkley Street) on Tuesday, January 13th at 6pm.

This is a call to all anarchists, radicals, workers, students, teachers, union members, and the entire community of Boston to come out in a show of working class solidarity with those on the picket line at the State of the City address.

We are calling to assemble at the Back T-Station Exit on Clarendon Street (be careful, there are two exits to Back Bay, make sure you are on Clarendon) at 5:30pm. Then we can head over to the main picket as a group.

In solidarity,
BAAM
