Biotech Activist Workshop 3-3

On March 3, the SAFE FOODS Campaign is sponsoring an afternoon biotech activist workshop for individuals interested in learning how to debunk the industry's myth and educate the public.
BIOTECH ACTIVIST WORKSHOP

Learn How to Combat the Industry's Arguments
and Educate the Public

WHEN: Saturday, March 3, 2001 1-5pm
WHERE: Lucy Parson's Center 549 Columbus Ave. Boston, MA

WHAT:
Are you interested in learning how to improve your explanation of the dangers associated with genetically engineered food and biotechnology? Or are you simply fed up with seeing the biotech industry's slick TV commercials and advertisements? This half day workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to debunk industry myths and effectively educate the public about the problems with genetically engineered foods. Interactive sessions will allow participants to role play and brainstorm counter arguments. The afternoon will conclude with a presentation on existing alternatives to industrial agriculture and agricultural biotechnology.


Specific Sessions include:
Science of Genetic Engineering
Lack of Federal Regulations
Combating Industry Myths
Role Playing
Alternatives to Biotech & Industrial Agriculture
What Individuals Can Do Locally to Fight Biotech!


REGISTRATION: The workshop is free, but limited to 25 participants. Pre-registration is requested.

BACKGROUND INFO:
This workshop is the first in a series of workshops organized by the SAFE FOODS Campaign. Since October of last year, the Campaign has been calling on Shaw's and Star Markets to remove genetically engineered ingredients from their house brand products until studies have proven them safe for both humans and the environment.
